Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts My baby niece is visiting us from Paris. It's a short visit so we went out to the thrift shops and found this old child/doll chair for $2. It wasn't the best looking thing, but it was tiny enough to be her perfect size. We dressed it up with some cloth scraps and now she's in love with it. You can use a sewing machine or hot glue, I've done it both ways.
Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield: 1 chair
Supplies:
- 1 old chair
- fabric to cover the seat
- optional trim fabric
- large sheet of paper (I used an expired calendar)
- pen or pencil
- scissors
- sewing machine or hot glue
Steps:
- Start by covering the seat of your chair with your large piece of paper. This will act as a pattern for the fabric.
- Dot around the folds of the paper with a pen or pencil.
- Cut out the shape of the seat pattern you just drew.
- Place the pattern on top of your fabric and cut around to make your seat cover.
- Cut two 8 to 10 inch long strips of the fabric. These will be the ties for the seat cover to around the back of your chair.
- Sew or hot glue the straps onto the seat cover, one on each back corner.
- If desired, add a fabric lining trim to hang down the sides of the chair. We went this route to give it an extra girly twist.
- Now tie the long strips to the back of the chair. All done!

That is so cute! I'm sure she loves it - now how will she get it on the plane home? (Wouldn't that be nice.)
