I have a male and female duck that have been on our pond for the last 6 months. Just recently I found a nest of 12 eggs and the female has been sitting on them for a little over a week. Yesterday I realized the male duck was gone and now this morning the female is gone. I believe she took off late yesterday evening. I checked the nest before going to bed and she was gone. She hasn't been back. Can I save these eggs or is it too late?

If she abandoned the nest she may have been scared off by a predator. In that case she will not be back
There are a number of threads on this site (Thrifty Fun) that cover this topic. Maybe one of them can help.
Prayers for the ducks!

There was one I can't seem to find about using a candle to look at the eggs to see if they are viable...sometimes the mom leaves if she knows none of the eggs are viable.
Mother Nature can be rough sometimes :(
Wishing you all the best!!
We had one that laid her eggs by our house. One morning we found feathers all over the driveway, something had killed the mama duck.We brought the eggs inside, placed them in a basket on a towel, then hung a trouble light over them to keep them warm, not close! Just close enough for them to stay warm! Within 2 weeks we had 8 little ducklings! Only 1 egg did not hatch. It was exciting to watch them come out of their shells. We put them into a lake across from us a few weeks later.Yea! Good Luck!
