Please help. I went to a hair salon on Saturday and have been left with orange hair, not only that, I also suffered minor chemical burns. It was the worst experience of my life. I am desperate to re-dye my hair asap as I look horrendous. Do I have to put a red on first before a brown will take? Also as I have these slight burns, would it be OK to use a semi perm dye until I am able to dye it properly once healed? I had my hair bleached Saturday and hoping to use the semi on Friday? TIA

Wow, this is just too much at one time. This makes hair very unhealthy ! Usually you would go back to the salon that the work was done, to get them to fix it. But at this point I'm not sure you want to go back. You still need a professional stylist to advise you! You have to heal your scalp and hair before adding even more chemicals!
Many thanks for your reply. The director of the salon has not offered to redo my hair and tbh I dont trust them. He says its normal I was chemically burnt, I must have a sensitive scalp.
There are a few way to try and fix this without destroying more of your hair.
1. You can use a toner to neutralize the unwanted brassy orange and yellow tones in your hair. This will give you more of a blond color and not the orange color. You may need to do this more than once to get rid of the orange and get the color you want.
2. You can get a friend to help you box dye your hair. Just make sure you get a very even coat of the dye on your hair to cover all the orange in your hair.
3. Visit this site. There are some good recipes that you can use to safely fix your hair. www.stylecraze.com/
Thank you for getting back to me. I have just ordered wella charm t14 and 050, I didn't really want grey hair but wasnt sure which toner to purchase and anything is better than the orange I have. Would the t18 work better for a blonde ?? Tia
The only way to know for sure is test a small stand of your hair with the two products and see the end results. After this you can finish the job. I would not do all of your hair at once if you have 2 products you order.
Before putting any sort of chemical on your head right now the absolute best thing to do right now is to do deep treatment hair masks, intensive conditioning treatments and I would also use organic coconut oil to massage into your scalp...to help with the orange/brassy tones I highly recommend getting a Blonde/Silver shampoo&conditioner. Use it every time you wash your hair and even let it sit for a few min before washing it out..it will gradually help reduce the unwanted tones ( I use it everyday) I would do the treatments for atleast a week.
Toners can be tricky, the wella 050 works great for getting rid of orange, but a little bit goes a looong way.. I've used t14 which gives more of a silver/grey and t18 which gives more of a white/platinum..and what worked best for me was to actually mix the two together 50/50..But I also have light blonde hair. If you naturally pull warm tones when coloring, try using a color that's a cool,ash,neutral...also, before you do any color, use a protein filler. You can apply it right before coloring and it will help add porosity into your hair to help grab and hold the color evenly and also protects against damage from coloring...
I order all the products I listed from Sally Beauty..I am not a professional, but I've taken my hair from jet black to platinum blonde and I know the struggle all to well for dealing with those brassy tones and maintaining a healthy head of hair :)
Hope this helps!!
Hi, thanks for responding to my post. So today I used t14 with a small amount of the 050. Happy to say the orange has gone but I'm left with greenish hair. Not having much luck. Would t18 or t27 work better. Thankfully my hair is fairly strong and managing ok atm. Many thanks
This sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
You may want to visit a dermatologist to make sure your scalp is OK. Your hair and scalp may be so damaged you may have to shave it off and start over. Use wigs for a while.
More dye seems like the last your scalp needs right now
