You might have a burned out fuse.
Sometimes it is just a fuse problem.
Check the fuses as one may just be loose.
Thank you, found the problem after cleaning and moving all parts.
The reverse button had got stuck in reverse.
Thanks everyone for help.
Thinks for the happy news!
This is great news as it is most discouraging to get everything ready, sit down and then - nothing!
Be sure to check out the Singer site as they have a lot of good information and also have tips on how to do a lot of intricate sewing that you may not attempt without someone guiding you through it.
This just happened to me! Thank you for your answer!
Downloading the Instruction Manual for the Singer 5500/5400, 6199/6180/6160 is a good idea if you don't have a copy but the Error Code: "E7", is NOT listed on page 29.
I have turned the machine 'on & off' several times to 'reset' it but it is not working. Help !!!
I agree about calling their customer service. They used to be amazing! I haven't had the opportunity to call in a long time, so I hope they are still helpful.
If you are handy, once they give you ideas about what may be going on, see if the can point you to a YouTube to help you fix it.
If you aren't handy, I suggest having it looked at by a pro. I have had too many home diy nightmares, so I save money by going to experts first! No more pound foolish!
