I am looking for fun games and activities. I am in charge of entertainment for our annual progressive dinner multiple family Easter celebration. I need ideas for a mixed age group. Games such as scavenger hunts, funny suppers, or an amazing race. I have done all of the above but am now looking for some more ideas for non-board game and non-computer activities.
Mom used to place the first clue to a treasure hunt in our easter baskets. "It makes your pajamas warm and cozy!" We would shout out "the clothes dryer!" And go get our first treat and next clue. Continue to the grand basket with chocolate bunnies for all.
Another one is a "get to know your family" game. My great, great uncle was once a cobbler, and I never knew that until my father told me to ask him about his shoes. Lol, I think it would be fun to have a story telling contest. See who the kids think might be telling a tall tale and who is sharing a bit of their unknown past for a grand prize.
Charades, it's cross-generational!
Considering the time of year, how about a Happy Unhalloween Party, have a costume party and 'pretend' it's Halloween, bob for apples, best costume contest, Halloween decorations and food/snacks etc. Play pin the 'nose' on the pumpkin, probably need to use paper pumpkins for decoration, that game, etc.
A) My suggestion is along the lines of an amazing race. Since it is a progressive dinner, part of the fun could be not knowing where you are going next (only the hosts would have to know what they are providing). Have clues for the folks to follow in order to get to the next place. The clue could be in an overlarge Easter egg given to the party once their course is done.
Open the egg and have a pun about the family or what street they live on inside. One clue could be in code that they would have to decipher. Another clue could be to write who/where to go in picture words (i.e., an eyeball for the word "I" or a group of 3 things for the number three in an address, etc.).
Send them around with an overlarge Easter basket and at the end, they'd have an Easter basket full of eggs. Perhaps this could be the prize for a winner of whatever fun game you've got planned. Also, they should all be made to wear bunny ears. And even possibly bunny tails.
B) Would you play a game at each residence (how many hours would this take?!) I agree, Charades is the #1 Cross-Generational game. But another game that is GREAT fun to me is Pictionary. You could have 6 items written on papers in a bowl for each team to pick and have one person be the draw-er for their team. Suggestions for the items to be drawn:

D) Bingo is kind of a cross between a board game and a more active game. Your cards could have easter pictures instead of numbers and you'd just have all the pictures on the cards in a hat to pull out and call out E-basket or S-egg (assuming the word at the top is EASTER or EGGS instead of BINGO).

E) Of course, if you really wanted active, you could have an egg toss, where the partners start close together and toss an egg (boiled or not is your call) to each other and then back up a foot, try again etc until there is a winner
F) Easter Egg Relay--But with no hands, only noses, pushing the egg back and forth.
G) Blackjack! Nothing to do with Easter, but I love poker.

You choose 3 backyard landmarks and have two teams lined up at the first mark. You could make it as easy or challenging as you wanted At this website, it suggests hopping on one foot to the 2nd mark, then skipping from there to the 3rd mark and then two-feet jumping back to the group for the next person to go. More challenging would be cartwheels in one leg of the race or starting out doing that dizzy bat thing where you rest your forehead on a bat, leaned over and then go in circles as fast as you can. Somersaults. Jumping Jacks. "The worm" (break dance move). The moonwalk (now I'm getting old school). Hop like a frog on all fours. Eat a carrot at the first stop. Decorate an egg with markers at the 2nd stop, covering the whole egg before you could move on. There are many ways to make it challenging but gaping the generations. Have Fun!
