These canapés are easy, economical, and quick, as well as tasty. Great for parties. Enjoy!
Total Time: 30 mins to 1 hour
Yield: 3 per slice of bread
Ingredients:
- 20 slices bread ($1.00)
- Topping Ideas
- cream cheese and chopped chives
- pate topped with cooked mushrooms
- creamed mushrooms
- cottage cheese and pineapple
- eggs topped with a sprinkle of paprika
- Melted chocolate with soft cheese mixed in and topped with soft fruits; raspberries, blackberries, etc.
- Fluff/melted marshmallows, melted chocolate, etc.
Let your imagination run riot!
Steps:
- Lightly roll out slices of bread to flatten a little.
- Using a smallish cutter - to fit the small cake tin - cut rounds.
- Place in a small cake tin - using the pestle part of a pestle and mortar to push them into shape comes in handy!
- Bake on gas mark 4 (or equivalent- 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C), for 15 minutes, until golden.
- Once cooled, fill with cream cheese, pate, egg mayo, creamed mushrooms, whatever you fancy!

Flattened bread slices cut to fit muffin tins - what a great idea! I recently tried using canned biscuits in a similar way without success. I think the bread will work.
