Bronze Tip Medal for All Time! 59 Tips These earrings are a great way to recycle aluminum. They are easy and fun to make, unique, and also make a great gift.
Total Time: 30 Minutes
Supplies:
- scrap aluminum from coffee cans, disposable pie pans, soda cans, etc.
- washable marker
- 2 earring wires
- 4 jump rings
- non-working ball point pen
- utility shears
- quarter as template
- small nail
- hammer
Steps:
- Use a quarter as a template and draw around it with the marker for both earrings, then cut out the earrings with the utility shears. I also put a hole in the top of each earring at this time.
- Next you will want to think about what type of design you want for your earrings. (I think a flower is always pretty. :-) You might want to practice on some scrap aluminum to see how much pressure you will need for etching onto the aluminum. Now you're ready to etch your design onto the round template with the non-working ballpoint pen.
- Time to clean up your earrings with soap and water, then dry them off. Place the jump ring into the hole, then add the second jump ring to it and then attach the earring to the earring wire.
- That's it! You're all finished! (Included is a pic of another pair that's a variation. :-)

(Another idea is to make a matching necklace also. ;-))

Yes, you sure can. (I just bought a punch also...and it works well for punching out the shapes from the aluminum.)
