When you're using your mixer, sometimes things tend to splash around. Put a hole in a paper plate. Put your beaters through the hole, to protect from messes.

When using your hand mixer, put the mixing bowl in the sink. It prevents splattering of the counter and backsplash. Don't use your mixer to whip mashed potatoes.
If your electric hand mixer goes bad make sure to save the metal beaters, they will usually fit on a new one you buy. I can't remember how many times I've been able to assembly line baking items without cleaning beaters in between. By Melanie
