My son receives SSDI from his father, who died 21 years ago. If he gets married will he lose those benefits? He is 39 years old.

This is a very important question that can only be accurately answered by the SS office.
Sometimes answers like this can be answered over the telephone but it is best to go to their office in person. Be sure to take all documents (SS cards for who ever receives benefits and anyone receiving benefits in their name). SS will sometimes only answer questions like this when the person receiving the benefits is present.
Hi - I reread your question and I wondered why your son was receiving these benefits at 39 years of age?
Is your son also disabled?
As I stated previously: only the SS office can answer this question but I do know that by law the SS office is supposed to be notified of any changes in a person's life (someone receiving benefits) that may or may not change their benefit package.
I have known of cases where this was not done and the person (SS found out) had to repay the money that was sent "fraudulently", so be careful that you do things properly.
Just call your local SSA office & ask (you don't need to go in to the office). If/when he gets married, he does need to report it to Social Security because it could affect his benefits. There is a LOT of wrong information out there. Ask the people that deal with SSA benefits.
