My child's father passed away. Can my child receive any type of benefits if the father never worked?

Call your local Social Security Office and talk to them about this matter. They are the only ones that can give you the correct answer. That being said, if the father of your child never worked, that means he never contributed to the support, and that in turn means you aren't out any money.
Go to socal security's website; they have the answer to many questions normally asked. That being said, a person must pay in for several years before any money can be drawn.
