If my ex-boyfriend was ever to pass away would I be able to receive Social Security benefits for our son that we have together. He's on his birth certificate and pays child support through the courts, so he's biologically his. My ex remarried and they have a kid together. I am just curious cause I always think ahead. I think it's while my son is under 18, I didn't know how it would work since my son's father married and had a kid as well. Altogether my son's dad has 8 kids, by four different women. One is almost 18, 4 other ones are ages 9-15, and their new child with his wife is almost 1. My son, that we have together is 6. One out of the 8 kids he gave up for adoption. Thanks! He has custody of 5 of the 8, 2 of the kids now are 14 and 15.

Only the Social Security Administration can answer your questions. Call for an appointment at the local office and prepare copies of all pertinent information for your visit.
Addendum to my prior answer-if your ex-boyfriend already has seven (?) kids to support, any SSA survival benefit would be apportioned to all qualifying kids. So, unless he makes a very high salary, your child's individual benefit amount will be a very low amount.
So you're thinking ahead to your ex's death, but he isn't even sick?
I'm a little more concerned with the state of your mental health than with answering your question.
