finished wreath hanging from closet knob After a massive heat wave that lasted two weeks, I finally got the gumption to finish this wreath. It's a straw hat, rattan ring, and is embellished with things that you would find on the farm. I didn't have any veggies or fruit to add, but if you did, that would be perfect!

Supplies:

1 rattan ring size 12" ($.50)
1 straw hat size 8" ($.50)
2 wooden watering can shapes ($0.00)
5 mini rakes, hoes, spades ($.75)
9 strips scrap fabric
24 mini clothes pins ($.25)
4 mini straw hats ($.25)
glue gun
scissors
5 ft baker's twine ($.10)
1 large button with crochet thread sewn in

Steps:

With the back of the ring toward you, invert the hat and either tack it or glue it to the ring. You have to have a hat a bit bigger than the hole size.

Glue the mini pins onto the outer rings that protrude from the rattan ring itself. You may not need all 24 as each ring is different.

Glue the mini hats on like a clock face, 12, 3, etc. Cut your fabric strips into 4-5" pieces to tie to the edges.

I painted the watering can wood shapes blue to match the fabric I wanted to use. Glue them on.
Glue some baker's twine onto the backs of the mini gardening tools and tie them to the bottom 5, making sure they are centered as much as the rattan rings will allow.

When you have everything on, tie your fabric strips to the rings in as even a way as you can. I did a double knot so they would be more durable. Make a center loop for hanging and you are done.

The idea of a country/farmer wreath brings to mind hanging out clothes on the line, watering plants, gardening implements, and wearing a straw hat to keep your head cool.
