I have a Singer Classic 44, heavy duty sewing machine. My problem is the feed dog will not engage. It has a lever on the back side to raise or lower it. Yes, it's in the correct position. I took the bottom off and cleaned it, but can't see what makes the feed dog stay up. It's only a couple of years old. The newer sewing machines keep getting more cheaply made and have more problems! This one cannot be lint cleaned without taking it apart! And I have to have the light replaced by a professional when it burns out. What a pain. I like the simplicity of it, but liked my old one much better. It's difficult to sew when I have to pull the fabric through. Any assistance will be so much appreciated. It costs as much taking it to a shop as I paid for it in the first place, $100+ just to look at it. Thank you!

Make sure you dont have threads or a bit of fabric jamming it. I would notify the company and tell them the difficulty you are experiencing
Oh wow...sounds like that line of machines is a lemon. Sad. Sorry you have to deal with that.
My machine is really old and when the feed dog doesn't work it is usually that I haven't seated the bobbin case right. This happens to me all the time. Usually when I take it out and re-seat it, and get the click everything works again. Not 100% sometimes it is way to linty, but most of the time it is the darn bobbin case causing me conniptions.
Have you tried their direct customer service to ask for assistance? Not for a repair but to ask their advice. It is possible the machine was recalled and they can tell you that also.

A machine that is a couple of years old should not have so many issues. If the customer service doesn't give you any help, if it were me, I would write a polite but firm letter (real paper letter) to the president of the company. I would detail all of your issues and show receipts of past charges. It looks like this man is the current president (see link at the end). The address would be:

Thanks for the input! I cleaned it really well so there's no fabric or threads in it. It could be the bobbin case, I had a lot of lint so removed a couple screws so I could get it out.
Is the feed moving an engaging with the pressure foot if not it's the feed. needing an adjustment. If it is engaging with the pressure foot and still not feeding check the pressure adjustment. It will be a located on top of machine or inside above the pressure foot. Still can't find read the instructions book that come with your machine. Good luck
