hi
we have a minpin who is 5. ours is the suv of minpins hes about 18 lbs. if you have children they will be a great dog- Ours is wonderful very protective of the whole family but expecially our 4 year old, if she is to close to something that would be potentially dangerous he will bark at her and nudge her. They require exercise just like any other dog- socialize them with other dogs adults children- there is nothing like a dog that you cant take anywhere.
By Tanya
I also have a minpin. He is almost 2 he weighs about 15 lbs which is above average. You must becareful of these dogs diet after having them spayed or neutered. They will gain weight rapidly. We just couldn't be happier with our baby. He is just like a kid. He's very protective of us and the children who stay with us. I think this breed of dog is the smartest breed we've ever owned. Our dog tends to be a little hyper at times and can be quite stubborn. When we brought in a new puppy several months ago he pouted and basically totally ignored me for about 3 days. But he quickly adapted to our new addition and is very attached and protective of her. These dogs are prone to skin problems so it's important to keep them flea free.

I have the misfortune of living next door to someone who has 7 minpins.
We went through HELL with these people because they never bothered training them. They barked from morning till evening until I had to have the authorities step in.
I read in a book about these dogs that they can be annoying barkers. They are also very aggressive by nature WHEN NOT TRAINED RIGHT. [So before someone gets upset and tells me about their little darling, it's a darling because you took the time to make it that way.] Chiuahuas are also yappers and aggressive if not trained right.
Take the time to properly train your baby. Let him be a joy to you AND your neighbors! (10/18/2005)

i have a minpin/chihuahua. his name is toby and he is now almost 2. he is a barker and a very lovable dog only with his owners.he will not have anything to do with anyone else. so i guess he is very protective.you need to socialize him with as many people as you can soon as possible. (10/21/2005)

Hi, I have this dog I am guessing she's a chihuahua/min pin mix but now having second thoughts that either it's chihuahua / rat terrier or maybe even doesn't have any chihuahua at all. What do you think ??? (11/07/2005)

I would just like to add that having a chinpin has been a wonderful experience. Bear is the most loving, sweet and fun dog- definitely an invaluable addition to our family. Anyone that is considering adopting one of these dogs should go for it! (11/17/2005)

I have a one year old mini pin I have always wanted this kind of dog or the larger kind of the breed. Where I live they wont allow Dobermans so I got myself a mini pin I love her alot and she is only 3 pounds so she is very fragile but she also can be very aggresive she has nipped at my husband and my son she is very ovrly protective of me and her space as she growls at my older dog if he tries to cuddle with me to close to her space. I would like to know how to curb this problem also as she has tred to bite me numerous times when she is laying in my lap and I touch her . (01/04/2006)
I have a minpin/chihuahua mix. she is about 6 years old. She is my sidekick. (01/10/2006)

I had a chi (JoCe) as a child and loved her - she wasn't barky or unsociable at all like some people think chis are, and some are.
Now we just got a 4 month old chi min pin who looks remarkably like JoCe. Her name is Contessa and she is a riot. She is not a barker and is very social. She'll cuddle with anyone.
We also have a 15 month hold Shiz Tzu, Eyore, and it's so funny to watch them play, and they get along great, although Contessa thinks it's great fun to chase him and grab his toys when he's not looking. (01/24/2006)

Hello friends! I happen to have a Chi-Min Pin and I love him. He is a great dog. He really has a mind of his own, and sometimes is not the best listener. But I am so fortunate to have him in my life. He is extremely loyal and a wonderful snuggler when it gets cold. One thing I have noticed is that he has bad allergies. I'm not sure if your puppy does...but I changed his diet to a more hollistic one and he seems to really like it. I add a teaspoon of organic flaxseed oil to his food and it makes his coat extremely shiny. I also once in a while add plain yogurt with live culture to aid in digestion and he also really likes it. I think the Chi-Min Pin mix is an awesome combination. I hope that all of you get great quality, loving, years out of your poochies! (01/30/2006)

I own a Miniature Pincher /Chihuahua Mix. Her name is Lady. I also have another Miniature Pincher named Rusty. They are a joy to my life. I have had Rusty for 4 years and Lady for 6 months. Both of them are liter box trained. (02/15/2006)

We just got a min pin 3 days ago he is 2 months old . We also have a 2 year old chow chow / husky. They kind of avoided each other until I left them alone tonight when I went to work. Now they won't go anywhere without each other. He learned to do stairs fast because he wanted to be with Shady at all times. He is very smart. If he wants something he has found a way to get it. (IE around/under/ actually I have no idea but he can get through baby gates. It's actually really funny. (03/25/2006)

Rusty is my minpin/chi and he has been a blast. He is 4 mon. and 5 lbs. We've had no problems with house training him and having him sleep alone. He is very smart, can do many tricks, and is very friendly with people. He's got alot of energy and is very sociable. We've even trained him to wait at the door before going out. I think the main thing to remember, and this is for any dog, owners need to set the rules early and stick to them. (03/27/2006)

Brewzer turned 2 this month and could not be a happier dog! He's got the classic marking/coloring (black and red/brown of a traditional Minnie Pinscher,
but has a Chihuahua face and stockier body. He truly is a cute dog. From the day we brought him home, we held him and spoiled him like a baby. In turn he has turned out to be a very well adjusted and happy dog. Awesome with the kids. Never yappy at all. He socializes well with other dogs-including bigger dogs. You made a great choice! I have a minpin/chihuahua Mix. Her name is mehana and she is 3lbs and two ounces. She is 1 and a half years old. She was born with Cocidia, which is an infection in the intestines that is passed down from the from the mother. She was taken from her mother along with her three siblings at only five weeks old. Because she was taken from her mother so young they did not build up the imunity from the mothers milk. To make a long story short; thanks to a great vet and lots of prayer she was the only survivor of the litter. So if you are a breeder please keep the puppies with the mother until at least 8 weeks of age. Mehana is now the best dog i have ever had and the joy of my life. (04/11/2006)

I have a male Chincher (chihuahua/minpin) mix named Tigger and he's five years old. He has the body of a minpin and the head of a chi, weighs 12 lbs on a fat day, he's red and he's adorable. Great disposition. I purchased him in Nashville, TN several years ago and have just started looking for a breeder of this mix to find him a girlfriend, but I'm having trouble finding anyone who does this mix anymore. If you know of a breeder, please let me know. (05/05/2006)

I have the same exact mix and he is a lot of fun. Potty/pee training was an adventure, but it he has calmed down now. I got him at 5.5 months and now he 8 months old. The problem is they dont like to be told what to do! make sure you give him/her a chew toy(s), or you will be sorry. Also, dont leave food or water out will cause him to be picky. if you dont control him on the leash he will take control him/her self. If there is something to get into they will. i guess the best comparison would be to TODDLERS!!! Anyway, if you have any question or maybe you can share some information with me email me at Chef_johny( at) yahoo.com (05/16/2006)

We are adopting our 2nd Chipin from petfinder. com
We live in Southern Indiana. Zoey, our 1st we found in Georgia. The 2nd pup, Zena, we found in Missouri. The Missouri Shelter is meeting us with the new pup in Illinois, about half way from our home town. Check the Pet Shelters for these mix breeds. There are alot of homeless pups that need a loving lap to call there own. Most Shelters will have volunteers that will help transport the pet to you.
I've alway's been a Big Dog Mom but our 16 & 14 yr old Rotts have left us now. I never thought I'd be a Lap Dog Mom untill I met these little angles.
Ours love to go on weekend Road trips, perfect size pet if they are going to travel with you. (05/19/2006)

I own Nacho a Chi/minpin 3 years old 7 lbs. He was from a shelter. What a delight to have. With him at my side he fills my heart with so much joy. I have had dogs in my past, never like Nacho, it's almost an insult to call him a dog. I think I humanized him. He is so smart, maybe it's because we are so close he almost knows what I'm thinking. He is a great watch dog, only if I am nearby he will only let me know if something is not right no matter what it is.He is a CHICKEN DOG. He is not good in the dark, so I bring his food and water to the bedroom when we call it a day, Yes, he sleeps with me, he has his own pillow. He knows not to touch mine. He does not care for children. He tolerates them. I guess because he is so small, he feels over powered. You can say he is attached to me like a right arm. He is with me in the house everywhere I go and if he is not he is in the trash or doing something he shouldn't, which is rare. He gets his feelings hurt very easy. When he barks at my parrots I get angry and make him lay down on his blanket. Where he sits and cries until I make him feel better. I'm sorry to babble. I could't begin to tell you what he has brought to my life. When ever I meet someone he has to love me love my Nacho too. END OF STORY. THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST. I hope you can be as fortunate to find your Nacho too.(b)(/b)(b)(/b)(b)(/b)(quote)(/quote) (06/25/2006)

I have a Chi/Min Pin mix as well and I am wondering why she is only 2 lbs!! She is healthy and active and very fiesty, no health problems at all. But she is just so very little. I'm reading everyone elses responses and I haven't come across anyone who has one as small as mine. Is this normal? Should I be worried about her gaining weight? (07/05/2006)

Basil, my awesome little min pin-chihuahua is three months old now, and he is just the most amazing little thing I have ever known. I'm having problems lately deciphering a specific mood of his, I think he is hypoglycemic or diabetic. I'd like to get some online research information before coughing up vet money to find out.
Is anyone else's little minpin/chihuahua diabetic or have some blood sugar level problems? (07/06/2006)

My name is Nette and I have a wonderful 2 1/2 year old pin/chi named Roscoe. He is the BEST friend I have ever had! I have had a disabling injury and Roscoe is very emotionally sensitive to that and so loving and caring! The one thing I HIGHLY RECOMMEND is you either read up on or visit PetSmart stores for some help in consistant training. Roscoe's brother & sisters lived in the same complex as me and Roscoe was the ONLY one that turned out really well. The difference was that we consistantly trained him (yes was always yes and no was always no) and the other's were allowed to be undisciplined and the boss of the owner. Boy was that disasterous! One of the dog's actually bit the owner bad and a few days later bit a visiting guest. Both times he drew blood. These particular minpin/chi mixes had a lot more of the pincher in them than the chi. Your dog will make a wonderful forever friend if you will dedicate his first year to specific, consistant training. Trust me--it is WELL worth the hard work and effort!!!! Our dog Roscoe is spoken to like a human and understands all that we say. He is loving, cuddly, super smart, emotionally sensitive to me, very protective, and loads of fun! His favorite toys have squeakers in them and he tears them up until he gets the squeaker out and then it is a "dead" toy!
When he was 4 months old, we used small treats to teach him tricks. He now fetches, plays stick, lays, rolls over, sits, sits on his hind legs (we call this "begger dog", jumps very high like he has springs in his feet, and is very cheap entertainment.
We have found by experience to NOT feed him people food OR chocolate. It is VERY toxic to this breeds system and causes severe illness. He does enjoy peanut butter and carrots and love's his kibble's and bits! Roscoe is 19lbs of solid muscle yet I have seen his brother's and sisters as small as 2-4 lbs. This is normal, but if the dog is that small and you have concerns consult with a vet who is sensitive to these types of questions.
Contact me at topgogetter AT htva.net if you have any questions or would like to chat or even get solid training tips--I would be very blessed to help! (07/09/2006)

We just got a little chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix, he is 9 weeks and almost 2.5lbs. He is just like a little baby, he goes everywhere with me & if I leave him alone he cries. He will follow me around everywhere & most of the times listens very well.
He is doing very well with potty training, he hasn't gone in the house once! We are trying to crate train & that is our only difficulty. He is getting better, now he only cries for about 10 minutes or so & then in the morning when he hears us moving around.
We have two big dogs also.... a lab/sheppard mix & a pit/hound mix. Our lab is scared of him & our pit is a little mother, she will let him jump all over her and bite her face and ears and she just lays there. They all get along very well.
This is a picture of little "Tito". After the UFC fighter Tito Ortiz, because he's a little tough guy! (08/10/2006)

We have a Chin-Pin named Milo who will be 2 in December. His parents were both registered (mom was the chi and Dad was the Min Pin).

I'm still searching for a Chipin puppy (or adult) to buy. I have a little male and would like to find an unaltered female so I can breed them. I'm having an unusally hard time finding this mix of breeds again and certain sites (such as petfinder.com) will usually show shelters who all alter the puppies before purchase. A. Norrell your puppy looks just like my Puck! He's about a year old and he looks just like that! It was funy because someone sold him to us as a chihuahua, and we realized a couple of days later there was no way he was a chi-chi (we have a chi as well) but a mix! But we love him just the same! People... instead of saying you are going to BREED your dogs that you buy from pet stores (which is bad enough as it is..), why don't you just FIND this mix breed in shelters... there are plenty of them! I have found TWO within a year of each other, and they are the BEST dogs!! No need to breed and have MORE end up on death row. Besides, by breeding a chihuahua and a true Min Pin, all you are doing is creating more MUTTS- that is what they are... min chis, chi/mins... whatever you want to call them.. they are mutts check out my two :) (09/12/2006)

We are the proud parents of 2 Chipin's
( Chihuahua / Min. Pin Mix ) pups. We had adopted both pups through petfinder . com.
Our 1st pup Zoey came from Atlanta, Ga.
We were so lucky to find the 2nd pup Zena, in Troy, Mo.
Everyone thinks they are litter mates.
They are perfect companions to us & each other.
Where one pup goes, the other follows.
Zoey is 15 moths old & 9 lbs.
Zena is 8 months old & 7 lbs.
The photo was taken during nap time on their favorite blankie.
Zoey loves to chase bunnies in the yard, Zena loves to chase Zoey chasing bunnies in the yard.
We just adore these little mutts and we were so lucky to have found them.
Just goes to show, some accidents are wonderful happens.
I suggest anyone looking for this mix breed to search petfinder, there are so many of them out there that need loving homes.
2 is our limit though or we'd adopt them all

- there are pictures of all the puppies there. Shipping shouldn't be a problem. This is turning out to be a wonderful cross, even though they are only 3 weeks old. Both parents have great temperments, and the puppies are just gorgeous. 3 black and tans, and 1 cream colored one. (10/30/2006)

She looks like the pics I've seen on here of a ChiPin. Can someone tell me...if they happen to have puppies, will they be 3/4 Chi & 1/4 MinPin? Here is a picture of them waiting to go outside. (12/01/2006)

MY DOG LUKE IS A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW...AND WE ARE NOW FINALLY DISCOVERING THAT HE MAY NOT BE FULL CHIHUAHA LIKE THE BREEDER SAID HE WAS. WE JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A PURE BRED CHIHAUHA WHICH CAME WITH PAPERS...LUKE (THE TAN ONE) DID NOT COME WITH PAPERS, AND THE OWNERS WOULD NOT LET US SEE HIS PARENTS....BUT THEY SAID HE WAS TEACUP CHIHAUHA-SOMEBODY SAW OUR DOG AND SAID "AWW IS THAT A MINI PIN/CHIHAUHA" AND WELL WE THOUGHT NO,BUT AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE AND SEEING THIS OTHER DOGS, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT LUKE REALLY MAY BE A MINI PIN/CHIHUAHA MIX...WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? I MEAN EXSPECIALLY SINCE THEY WOULDNT GIVE US PAPERS ON HIM OR LET US SEE HIS PARENTS, I JUST THINK IT'S KIND OF WEIRD...luke (the tan one weighs 6 lbs) and fudgy-well hes a little over weight for a chihuaha -hes 12lbs and 8 months old. They just look so different, thanks for any input itll be grealty appriciated! (12/08/2006)

Ive never seen another dog of his breed until now. Hes a big boy, 18 lbs, but hes not fat, just really tall and muscular. Just thought Id share him w/ you all. (12/09/2006)

Is it true that you shouldn't breed dogs in their first heat. I'm afraid that it may have happened last night, but the male (Chia) is still wanting the ChiPin!
How long are the females in heat? We do want to breed them, but only at the right time....it could be too late now anyway. If so, how long before puppies? I know I have lots of questions, but need answers quick-like....PLEASE ANYONE? (12/19/2006)

Hi!
This is my 2 months old dog. We bought her as a chihuahua, but I think she may be a chipin. What do you think? (12/26/2006)
By Bas
I guess nobody looks at this very much. I did figure out that if my ChiPin is pregnant, she will have pups near the end of Feb.07. (My orginial post is below, with male chi & female chipin at the "glass" back door). All I really want to know now is if the pups will be 3/4 chias and 1/4 minpin. Anybody that can let me know so I can find them good homes, I would appreciate it!! Denise in S.C. (12/31/2006)

Bas--posted on 12-26-06/ How long is the nose on your puppy? I can't tell because the pic is dark. I know that Chia's aren't supposed to be over 6 lbs., although my full blooded male goes over a few oz. every now & then.

JDBS, I am wondering what color your puppies are. I recently lost my angel and am not sure what breed she was. Any help? (01/11/2007)

Crober....I can't see the nose, but there are Chia long hair dogs. Both mine are brown (same color), but with some black on them, mostly the toes and a stripe down their back. You can see a pic of them if you scroll down on this page. (01/12/2007)

I have a 11 week old chihuahua min pin mix named Vinny... He is such a great dog but a little scared of meeting new people... He starts his puppy classes on Wednesday and I'm very excited! He's done great with crate training, but still has accidents every once and a while... The reason is he doesn't know how to tell us when he needs to go out. I try to be consistent on when he goes out, but if I mess up then he does... I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to train him to let me know when he needs to go outside? (can't do the bell trick because I have a cat who would play with that every chance she could get...) And also he doesn't want to leave my side, so he won't go wait by the door! (01/15/2007)

To jdbs (12/31/2006) - This is a side pic of my puppy, so you can see the nose (sorry for the bad quality, they were taken with my mobile phone). She is a bit bigger now, a little more than 5 lbs, and her legs are longer. I have seen other chihuahuas and I don't think she has the same face and body shape. What do you think? I would love to know what breed/mix she is! Thanks in advance. (01/16/2007)

this is my Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix, her names nicki, in this pick shes about 6 but now shes 8 shes a load of fun and the whole family loves her (01/16/2007)
Hi! this is my 4 month old puppy which i thought was a chihuahua, but i am having doubts that she might be a mixed. what do you guys think? also, how big do chipins usually get? (01/17/2007)
By Jennifer
Bas..a Chia has a shorter nose than yours does, also according to the AKC, Chia's should not weigh over 6 lbs (at least for competition). The puppy could very well be a ChiPin...mine weighs 9 lbs now and has a great personality & can jump to my son's waist (he's 6-1). She is also very muscular with a smooth coat, unlike a Chia, except maybe a long hair. At this point, I don't think our ChiPin(Gracie) is PG....she is losing weight now, instead of gaining. And I think she would have a little tummy on her by now...due date would have been around 02-23-06. But no one ever answered my question if the pups would be 3/4 chia, 1/4 minpin, which I would like to know cause there have been so many people wanting a puppy from the 2..Gracie & Pinto. (01/17/2007)
By denise
Jennifer...the paws look too big for a Chia, but I could be wrong. Keep watching, and post pics as it grows, OK? (01/17/2007)
By denise
Angie...on training your puppy to go outside...I've used PeePee pads. Of course, my usually uses them instead of going outside....LOL. But its ok as I'd rather not clean up their messes. The crate trick didn't work for us either! They never went to classes. Your pup is really cute!! Hope you have has much fun as we do with our Chia, ChiPin, Boston Terrier & Lucy the cat!! (01/17/2007)

THanks jdbs. do you think that my dog is a chipin? or some other mix? i had doubts that my puppy was a full chihuahua because shes pretty big for a chihuahua- shes 4 months, and 5 pounds. Thats also why i wanted to kno how big shes probably gonna get. Also, i've been having major separation anxiety and crating problems. whenever i put her in her crate, she'll go crazy and bark nonstop until i get back which could be a couple hours. and recently ive noticed that she pees in her crate when im gone- even though i dont think i leave her for very long. suggestions? here's a more recent picture (01/18/2007)
By Jennifer
Jennifer....I would buy some pee-pee pads and put her in the bathroom with some toys & food. That way if she doesn't use the pads, its easier to clean up. I found that my ChiPin & Chia didn't like the crate at all and did the same as your loved one. Its worth a try at least. As for the weight..I would wait, as it could be "puppy fat"..LOL. And you could always ask your vet what breed he thinks it is. Good Luck to you on the training. (01/19/2007)

Hi I just got a Chipin and thought maybe she was another mix, but seeing some of these photos I am convinced she is a chi minpin mix. My question is....Does anyone have any suggestions on feeding. She is pickier than I am when it comes to eating and I am pretty picky. Any suggestions would be great. I can't keep buying different foods to see if she likes one or the other, and when it seems like she likes one two days later she stops liking it. lol
Thanks!
I will try to put a pic of her on the site soon. (01/22/2007)

I had a beautiful mini pin/chi mix who was stollen from my yard. They are wonderful dogs. Once I am truely over the loss of her I will be getting another one. She was wonderful with my children and other animals. Her personality was the best I have seen on a small dog. We names her Nitro because she was so full of energy. (01/25/2007)

yes my girlfriend and i have a miniature pincher/ Chihuahua mix, named Prince. He is one year and 3 weeks old. Prince is about 6 pounds. its a nice breed. sometimes he will get the shakes from the chihuahua side so don't think its something bad. but its a great dog and very good looking. When we go out everyone wants him or say great things about him. (01/28/2007)

You all have wonderful looking dogs. i was hope to find more Chiuahua / Miniature Pincher Mix (01/28/2007)
Hey guys, i really need some advice! my puppy (shes a chihuahua, but i think might be mixed with minpin) has major issues about being alone and i don't know what to do! i've tried crating her and she REALLY hates it. as soon i close the door, she'll go crazy. i've had her for almost 2 months now, and she still hates her crate. I've also discovered that whenever i leave her alone, usually no more than 2-3 hours, she pees in her crate! should i just stop crating her, and give her like a room? i've tried to just let her stay in a gated off area, but she just tries to escape. i really don't know what to do to make her feel better about being alone. Whenever there's some sort of human contact, she is an absolute angel though... she pees and poos always on her pad. she just gets really distressed when she alone, and i don't know what to do!
also, should i let her sleep with me? the same problem here.. she just keep barking if i put her in her crate. (01/30/2007)
By Jennifer
Jennifer...if the puppy is going to the pads, then I believe it will do ok without being in the crate. Can you gate the puppy so there is ALOT of space?, so that she can feel freedom. Also, what about getting a stuffed animal? (Ours love them...at least until they tear them up, LOL) Our ChiPin (puppy,7months) will come from one end of the house to the other just to go to the pad..and that is waking up while in my son's bed! Just make sure that there are plenty of toys because our ChiPin chewed up so many of our shoes, ugh! She probably still would, but I put them up so she can't now.
As for sleeping with you...if you want to. We close our bedroom door every night and both the Chia AND the ChiPin sleep with us and never wakes us up, except if the Chia goes to the pads...he seems to cry because he can't see in the dark good & wants to get back in the warm bed.
Good luck on making your own decisions. (02/01/2007)

Hi, I recently got for free what I believe (after looking at this feedback/pics) a female Mini/Chi. She's supposedly 7, and most definitely overweight, 12.2 pounds.
The people I got her from told me she was a purebreed mini pin (working on getting papers from the liars...not that it wasn't love at first sight, and not that I love her any less), and fed her WAY too many table scraps.
Because of this unhealthy reinforcement, the only things she'll eat are things that I'm eating. I know this isn't good for her, but I don't wanna starve her. I try to feed her every day, but she only likes wet food.
Occasionally when she's really hungry, she'll eat the Nutro Natural Choice Rice and Lamb Lite (For overweight, less active dogs) Dog Food. But she'll only eat this like treats, about 20 pieces or less and then wont touch it.
What do I do? please help. I know she should be eating more, but I'm not gonna feed her heart-attack food. Also, how far should I take her on walks? she never got them at her old home, so I think she COULD go farther than I've been taking her (especially since they never seem to be long enough for her).
But I know she's got tiny legs and does tire after awhile. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Sorry for this being so long, but who better to ask than fellow owners right? I just want to get my baby girl back to a healthy weight and promote healthy living to her from now on.
P.S. Will post a pic ASAP (02/05/2007)

This is my puppy "LOLA". She is 13 weeks old and weighs just short of 10lb. She is a very affectionate and craves attention. I have recently found out both from obedience school and the vet that this cross breed is an extremely active, hyper and full of energy dog that requires a lot of attention and constant re-inforcement when training since they (min pin) is known for being extremly stubborn, although a very extremly smart breed. So smart she learned how to un-lock herself from her crate and hop out of the gated kitchen that was set up for her when i went to work during the day and then return back to the same room and crate before i got home. This continues untill she was finally caught in the act. This breed, i have found from experience, requires a lot of attention (play time) and excercise. She has learned how to use her pee pads (yet is unaware how to tell me she has to go the washroom when she is isolated in a room playing, does anyone know?). At an early age she learned, "sit" "stay" "come", "lay down" and "roll over",As i stated earlier about being extremly smart. I love her to death and recommend this breed to anyone willing to devote time to a high energy dog. One answer to the question on crates, "i leave my puppy in our second washroom when i leave for an 8 hr work day. She has plenty of toys, water, a pee pad and an open crate and enough room to move around. She used to cry/bark so loud when i left i was getting complaints from neighbors. I started filling up kongs with food and hiding puppy treats in her room (bathroom) when i left or giving the puppy a "greenie", as well as putting a blanket over top of her crate and a ticking clock and leaving the radio on before i left. Since then she has stopped. (give it a try and see if it works). (02/07/2007)

These are the best dogs ever and I love seeing pictures of all your babies on the website. Tigger is my boy, his picture is attached and he weighs about 12 pounds. We've recently acquired two little girls that I thought were the same Chi/MinPin mix but they don't really look like Tigger. They look more like some of the pics posted here. Their ears are huge and they stand straight up rather than floppy like Tig's. (02/08/2007)

Hi all! I have an adorable Min Pin/Chi mix although there might be more in her not sure. She is a doll; no complaints. She just had to have hip surgery a month ago b/c for 3 mos the other owners didn't do anything when she was limping and it turned out she had a fractured hip. So I took her and got her the surgery she needed and she is doing great. Meanwhile lately she seems and is wanting to go on walks every time she wakes up which is about every 2 hours. She knows to use her peepads as she I have trained her on them since she was a puppy. However this walk thing every two hours is new. I don't mind a couple of times a day, but sometimes it's 6 or 7 times and she doesn't even have to go. I don't want to say no because she just gives me the saddest puppy face, but I can't keep walking her like this. One I work from home a lot and my bosses are getting annoyed that every time they call me I am out with her and have to get back to them. Second I have a heart condition and although walks are good for me too many could over exert me I am afraid. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
Also she is such a picky eater I don't know what to feed her? Any suggestions. She just started liking this Pet Food from Austrailia that I buy in the frozen section of the market. Sometimes she will eat the soft Pedigree food but the dry food she just won't touch. And she likes raw carrots.
Thanks for all the input and help in advance!

There is alot of talk in here in regards to "pee pads" just wondering if any of u guys have tried a kitty litter box. I also have a min pin/chi (minchi) named Lola. She is my love and when we are gone for work she uses it all the time. And it never stinks cuz its clumping litter. U just gotta scoop it out daily. I know those pee pads can be pretty expensive too.
The litter box is also a cheaper alternative. I have bought one box of litter since we got her and we've already had her for 8 months. Just an idea.... (02/16/2007)
By Trace
It would be great if they would use a litter box, but my full blooded Chi would have a hard time. We also have a cat in the house & the Chi/Pin likes to get in it and bring me presents...ugh. Although the pee=pee pads are expensive, I don't think it would be something we could live with, LOL. (02/16/2007)

Hi, I saved this little guys life on Sunday. He was running scared down the street in heavy traffic. The sales man from the car lot we were at caught him and handed him to my 6 yr old Grandson. We had him scanned and no micro chip, The humane society said he's a min pin. I'm looking for the owner and had a few calls but no matches. We want to keep him and loves us very much already. They said he might have a little Chihuahua? This dog is great! I won't name him until the owners have a chance. Wendy (02/27/2007)

Hi, Again I wanted to put another pic of this dog,he looks like one of the other dogs,Beautiful red coat.I cant get him to stay still for a good pic...LOL..Hyper little dude.. (02/27/2007)
By Wendy.
Wendy...does this sweet thing have any other markings? Have you taken him to a vet yet? Or weighed him? They are very hyper...I have a female chi/pin & the only reason why I know that is her heritage is that she has white spots in most of the same places as my full blooded male chia.Hopefully if you can, keep him as they are so loving and a pretty good watch dog inside and very playful. Not hard to train on peepee pads either & will also go outside. (02/28/2007)

I lost my best friend 2 years ago. He was the best living thing I have ever known. Has anyone ever noticed the way they walk down stairs? Mine did it on 1 foot! If anyone knows where to find one PLEASE contact me at boflys at aol.com (02/28/2007)

Mine does the same thing when going downstairs. He also holds one of his legs up sometimes when he's trotting around the yard. I know his leg doesn't hurt because he changes back and forth between which leg he holds up. I'm sorry for your loss and understand how you must feel. These little guys are the best. (03/01/2007)

I had a min pin for 12 years. I loved him very very much. But, if you are going to get a this breed, please know they can be a handful. They are very high energy and difficult to house break. They also love to run when not on a leash. Do your homework, you must be ready for some work with this breed...if you can make the commitment, the payoff is wonderful. (03/05/2007)

This is Josie....what a handful of a dog...diva..and a goof ball all rolled in one!
She was found last march by my sister...I was going through chemotherapy at the time and my sister brought her to me and Josie just took over the place like she was there all along...she is a very protective girl..of me and my daughter...a handful and very goofy...I just love her to death.....she pulled me out of a deep depression when I needed her most.

We lost our German Sheppard in Oct. of this year. When we decided we wanted a dog back in our house we visisted all the Animal Shelters in our area. But my spouse said "no small dogs." I want a large dog! We went to a pet store that has a good reputation and we took one look at this face, and we were sold. The information card said it was a Chihuahua, but the vet said, "you have a Min Pin/Chi mix." I have to tell you, we are so in love with this dog. He has a gorgeous face, and is very socialized. Very early on, I put him with small children, took him shopping, had lots of company, and let everyone pet him. The house training is very difficult, because he doesn't bark! Most dogs will let you know when they have to go. What I found is most successful, is just making sure that I take him out after he sleeps, after he eats, and every hour when he is awake. He has accidents when the weather is bad, so we are really praying for better weather. But all in all, we totally love our "Papi." (03/16/2007)

My fiance is dying to get a Chipin but we cannot seem to find any breeders. We live in Florida and would appreciate any help. Thanks! (03/19/2007)
I have a nearly one year old min-pin/chihuahua mix, Baxter. Happy little guy with loads of energy, and smart too. Sneaky too...
I'll catch him with something in his mouth he shouldn't have, and he gives me that "What??" look.
He loves other dogs, and is great with kids
Good luck! (03/21/2007)
By Mark.
Yes mine is just 1 and she is an energetic little thing. Sometimes I don't know what to do for her or with her. And smart you better believe it. Plus they do have those "What? or What Did I do? or Please I am so cut you can't say no..." looks down pat. (03/21/2007)
So I am proud to say that my dog is finally potty trained... only took 5 months. He now waits by the door until I let him out. Doing great, now the only thing I wish we could work on a little bit (don't expect it to completely go away because it is in the breed) is to not be so mean to bigger dogs that aren't even very interested in him, and are calm. He will bark and bark at them until they are out of his sight for a while. He has had puppy socialization classes and has met several dogs, but still only likes little dogs (even when the big dog puppies are not much bigger than him). If anybody has any suggestions feel free to post them! I just want him to get to a point where he will ignore them after a while.... Here's a more updated picture of my Vinny: (03/21/2007)

I just wanted to let you know that Chihuahuas are usually one person dogs (for example some do not like men at all) so be careful because your dog could get that trait. but since your dog is a mix, that trait could possibly not be in your dog. (03/27/2007)

Hello:
I just got a Chihuahua/Mini Pincher. She's got blue eyes I don't know if they are going to stay like that. Shes only about 1 1/2 month old. She was given to me because her mom did not want to feed her anymore. She still does not have any teeth I was wondering after her teeth come out when can I start giving her dog food?
(b)Editor's Note:(/b) Are you sure she is that old? Here's an article about the puppy stages of development: http://www.puppy-training-made-easy.com/puppy-stages.html
First, take her to a vet to make sure she is well. They could answer any questions you have about caring for her. (03/29/2007)

I have a 8 year old Chorkie Chihuhua/Yorkshire mix and I just got a Min Pin Chihuhua. He really does not pay any attention to her at all. He runs away from her. He does not even want to be near her. He even wants to drink milk when he sees her drinking milk. I think he is kind of jealous right now. What should I do? I know at first he does not like puppies because my parents had a puppy witch he did the same thing with. But once the puppy grew they became best buddies. (03/30/2007)

Hey everyone.
With the recent recall of almost everything, and sadly a few that I fed but stopped immediately my love, I was wondering what you are feeding your Min Pin/Chi's. I don't know about your babies but mine is sure a picky eater. Right now I am giving her the basics like boiled chicken and rice, scrambled egg and rice, hamburger meat, carrots, etc. But I want to make sure what I am giving her is healthy and if there is any other suggestions. I don't want to feed her anymore store brands at the moment as I can't keep taking her week after week to get checked after another food or treat is recalled. She is fine! But you all get my fear. Anyway if anyone can let me know or post some recipes or email some I would soooo appreciate it. I am sure after awhile Stitch will get sick of all the boiled chicken etc.
Also some Vegetarian recipes would be great. I am a vegetarian so this whole cooking meat thing is new to me. Thankfully I have friends who talked me through the boiling of the chicken.
Thanks

I looked at this page a lot before I got my little girl Piggy & thanks to all of your conversations and pictures I was convinced that a Min Pin/Chihuahua Mix was the kind of pup I had to have. I wanted to share my pup with you. I love her to pieces, she has such a personality and has been fairly easy to train so far. She is now about 4 months and about 6lbs. She is starting to get some black in her fur & her ears are pointing up a little more (I love how they flop down, but we will see!). I love her to pieces!!! (04/12/2007)

Your little Hercules is adorable. He certainly looks like a chihuahua, especially based upon his weight. How old is he?
I have three Chipins, Minchis, Chinchers (whatever you want to call them, I've heard lots of names) and love them all. However, my youngest is about 9 months old and she is already almost nine pounts. The other two are 12 pounds and 15 pounds, much more like the Min Pins rather than the Chis. They all have really big ears, two of them are pointy, standing straight up and the boy's ears flop over (very cute).
Good luck with your baby. (04/12/2007)

This is Isabel. A 7 month old Chipin. She weighs 8 lbs. She is very playful, but loves to cuddle. She loves people and other dogs. I will warn you, this breed is extremely hard to house break. Despite this, I would recommend this loving breed to anyone. (04/14/2007)

This is my baby. She is going to be two this year. Oh yes, she was hard to potty train but she has been going now. I just had to get down on it. She is very very protective and will try to get anyone that comes up to my house. I love her to death. I'm a expecting a baby this year, I just hope she accepts it too seeing how she can get very wild. She is always full of energy. Her father was a min pin and mom was a chihuahua. Isn't she cute? i have a lot of pictures of her and i love everyone else's pictures. They're so cute, they all remind me of her. (04/22/2007)

I'm really not sure what mix my doggy is... I got him from a pound and was told he's a chihuahua mix. I did notice he's similar looking to what some of you have on here. I still don't know for sure. What do you guys think? He's a very well behaved dog, he rarely barks, he's about 2 and weighs 11 pounds, very playful and loving :) When we got him he was sick, his nose was raw and his eyes were gunky (hence the photo) Anyway he's better now and such a great dog! We love him! (04/26/2007)

Here are my three babies. They are all supposed to be the same mix of minpin/chi but their bodies and ears are slightly different. My boy dog (the bigger one with floppy ears) is much more easy going than the girls are, but they're all very sweet. (04/27/2007)

I know this thing says feedback, but I have a question....
My dog suddenly decided to poop wherever she wants. For the past year she has been great at either going on her pee pads, or going to the door to show me that she needs to go out. In fact she was going less on the pee pads and more to the door, driving me sometimes nuts as she would make me take her out sometimes 5 times in one hour.
My question is...is there something I am missing? Is she doing this cuz she is mad at me, because she is sick, any ideas? Your thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
(04/30/2007)
Here is a more recent picture of my puppy, Coco. I posted one a while ago when she was 4.5 months (the one with the piano). She's now almost a year old and is extremely smart. House breaking and basic training was really easy. Just thought I'd share,

Hey, I've posted my Vinny on here before, but I had a quick question... I wanted him to be more socialized with other dogs, but he now decides he hates all other dogs; with his training collar (not electric) he doesn't mind them as much on walks, but if we stop moving and they stare at him, or a dog tries to sniff him, he seems to think he is 50 times larger in size, and can take them on and dominate them(the miniature pinscher in him...) He likes hanging out with a couple of my neighbor's dogs; they are now letting him into their "pack".... it would be nice if I could bring him to the dog park so he could be more of a "dog" once and a while, but I know I shouldn't the way he acts with other dogs right now... He has also taken puppy socialization classes and basic obedience classes, but they keep telling me general things; I was just wondering if anyone else on this page had an answer since you would know the "breed" more! Thanks! (05/13/2007)

I have a beautiful 3 year old mix. Her name is Abby and she is such a lover. She is a little hyper, never meets a stranger and LOVES everyone. A mix is the best dog to have. We adopted Abby for a shelter. Enjoy your dog! (05/14/2007)

I adopted my baby (Lil B) about a year ago from a shelter and like many other people, I was told that he was a chihuahua mix. However, I wasn't sure what he was mixed with. Some people say min pin, some say italian greyhound, and others say jack russell. But, after reading about everyone's dog's on this site I definitely have to say that he is a mi pin/chihuahua mix. He also looks exactly like some of your dogs, with the athletic body. roundish skull, and floppy ears. He is the sweetest dog ever!!! He loves to be held and to cuddle but he also lives to run around with big dogs. He makes me so happy and I couldn't have asked for anything more in a pup. (05/17/2007)
By Jenilauren
This is Elvis. He's about 2.5 yrs old. I rescued him around six months ago. I chose him (or he chose me??) because he was the only dog standing watching and listening while all the other dogs were barking like nuts. He's a feisty and playful character - not afraid of anything - and loves to run FASTTT! with the big dogs in the park. (05/18/2007)

We adopted Maymie Montag last week. We think he is an angle and he is very grateful for his new family. He likes all his doggie friends, enjoys walks, and loves treats. Somebody is spiold! We think he's a handsome guy and the ladies love him. We adore our Min Pin Chi ! (05/18/2007)

This is my min pin/chi mix Troy :) He is eleven weeks old, and I have had him for two weeks, we are so in love ! We spend all our time together, except for when I go to work, and I really encourage him to play with other dogs to get socialized, and meet lots of people. I'm going to start training him to sit anyday now :) He uses his pee pads regularly, but accidents do happen, I just had to share my poochie poo! He weighed 2.5 pounds when I first got him 2 weeks ago, and now he is 3.5, I bought him a Juicy leather dog carrier, I'm really hoping he doesn't grow out of it .... (05/21/2007)

could someone please assist me. we have a chi/min pin. she so cute and small. about 5lbs. uses the pee pads. but... she growls and barks at people he doesn't know. he often tries to bite me when he is comfortable with my son and doesn't want to move out of my sons site. he is very territorial. what can i do about him not being sociable to others outside of the family ! i love him. he is 8months old now. the people before me spoiled him terribly. ive learned that with chi min pin you have to show them who is the boss ! any suggestions. would like to take him out more often without him barking at everyone ! so I read the post about the 8 month min pin chi mix who has trouble with being territorial when you bring him on walks... my little guy was the same way just because he is so shy... he wasn't very socialized when I first got him so everything was scary to him... even after socialization classes and training classes, I found the only thing that really helped (especially on walks) was a training collar and proper correction with it (has made him more respectful). He is still sort of learning, but has been so much better! (Oh, and don't let him walk in front of you... he needs a very short leash) Talk to someone at a pet store for proper correction with the training collar... I use a custom made prong collar (made especially for very small dogs), which many people don't agree with, but it is the only collar that he has responded to... also I was told by the training place that he will be able to use a regular collar eventually after he learns, which is really hard to do with a gentle leader (also a good suggestion). Good luck! I would talk to anyone at a pet store for correction with the problem with your son. Better to correct it sooner than later!! Good luck! (06/02/2007)

We were told he's a full chihuahua. I'm not buying it. We think he's too cute for that. I'd like to get a little girl like him, but I'm not even sure what to look for. We've narrowed it down to a Taco terrier or Chipin. Any suggestions or ideas? (06/06/2007)

Hi, I have a min-pin chi mix. we call her a min-chi Her name is Zoe Jane and I got her from the spca a little over two years ago. I was told when I got her that she was 3 and a half years old but when my vet examined her we figure she was between 1 to 2 years old. She just turned three and she is the greatest little dog I have ever owned and the first. We have always had large dogs, Rotties, dobies, etc.. Zoe is also my service dog and my demo dog for training. I am a dog trainer so she goes to work with me to show the other dogs how to do it right. Zoe has a BIG personality and shows it on a regular basis especially to her little big brother Gus the rottweiler who is two and also a rescue. I've got a thing for the black and tan ones. HAHA! Heres Zoe Jane hope you like her as much as I do. (06/15/2007)

Hi
This is Lupita I posted a picture of her back on 3/29/07. Lupita is doing fine but she does not bark. Is this weird?. her eyes changed a little bit they went from blue to green. She is about 4 1/2 months old now. She weights 2pds and looks more chihuahua than Mini. I took her to the Vet and she said she really does not think Lupita is mixed with a Mini Pin. She said maybe Lupita's dad was a black chihuahua with tan. (06/20/2007)

My Minature Picnher/Chihuahua is named Abby. She is my favorite dog. She is nice to me. She is blind. Because she has Diabetes. Well i posted a about a week ago and my minpin had her pups. there were 5 but lost one. We had to get a C-section done becasue the one that passed away got lodged in the birth canal. and to our surprise there was another behind the one that died. She is doing great the puppies are about 1 week old. 2 males and 2 females. I added a picture of them below. The Mom was a Minpin and dad of corse a Chihuahua this was her second litter and when they did the c-section we opted to get her fixed. (07/15/2007)

I have the same dog, she is 7 weeks old today (7/20/07), she is the best thing in the world i love her. The vet says she is only going to be 15-18 pounds! She is the chillest dog ever all she does is lay around with us while we watch TV, sometimes when she wakes up she will have these hyper sessions where she wants to play, but she is soo cute when she does! Here is a picture of my little baby boy. Hes actually about 6 years old so he's not really a baby but hes my little man. And unlike everyone else on here he is a full bred MinPin. Anyways, I got him when he wondered into my yard, I got very attached to him and we tracked down the owners they said we could have him. But I have been having some problems with him lately, he has a habit of peeing on the couch or other objects and pooping in the house usually when the house is empty. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep him from doing this? I'm thinking of maybe taking him to obediance school. Let me know if you have ne ideas, please send them to Candaceb4 AT aol.com bc I wont check this thing. Thanks! (07/22/2007)

Meet Hunter. He is our first dog. I adopted him from a rescue shelter in Florida. Hunter is about three months old and we went to our first vet appointment together today. To anyone thinking about adopting/buying a chipin, you have my highest recommendations. Hunter has been a part of our family for two weeks now and I adore him. He gets along with every dog he meets (he even tried to get fresh with a pit), loves to play, and of course is the biggest cuddle pup ever. Thanks for everyone's posting on this site :) (08/03/2007)

All of your babies are so cute. They remind me of my baby Stitch when she was a puppy. They so yell at me to get another pup, but I won't. Although if there are any out there that need a home, I will never close the door. Have fun with your babies, they stay that size and sleep all the time only for a moment. Then they are bigger and crazier, but tons of fun. You will never regret getting one.

Hi All,
I love all the pics. posted here and have some questions maybe you can help me answer.
My wife and I have adopted a "Chipin" (Female/Not-Sterilized/ca. 1 year old) through an animal protection organization, in addition to our Portuguese Podenco (Female/Sterilized/6 Years old).
We are having some problems with the adjustment to the "New Dog" in the pack. During the initial "Visit" to the see if the two dogs would "get along", there were absolutely no problems we could observe, they played together, slept together, ate together, etc. As soon as we received the "OK" from the animal protection organization and were able to adopt the "little bugger" and brought her home, the problems started. It has not helped that the "little one" is a bit under the weather (coughing attacks/tonsil infection due to the terrible conditions in Spanish Dog Pounds/Spanish Death Camps).
Can any one give me a bit of information regarding Chipin behavior. The "little bugger" seems really intelligent, she has learned to sit, to stay, to roll over, in less than two days. I know that adjustment to a 2nd dog in the pack takes time, but I would like to know a bit about your experiences.
Thanks very much and many greetings from Germany,

I'm getting my chipin mix tomorrow. He's two months old and tan. His ears are more like of mins. Is there any way I can make them erect? The owner said he's very outgoing and potty trained. Really nice. I'm from Manila and dogs are not that expensive here. I got him for approximately $60. :) (08/29/2007)

I just adopted a dog.
The previous owners say she's half miniature pincher and half chihuahua but they don't seem to know for sure.
She's only a month old. I know that's too young for her to be separated from her mother, but she seems to still be okay.
I was wondering if you could give me feed back on whether shes half and half.
Oh yea! I haven't found a name for her.
What do you think would be the perfect name? (08/30/2007)

I am a breeder of ChiPins. First let me say to other breeders, possible buyers, LOOK AT WHAT YOU BUY! A lot of the dogs on here look nothing at all like a ChiPin. When you purchase a pup I suggest that you see both parents. You should know about both breeds. They will inherit traits from both. To breeders, no offense, but PLEASE! Have some sense. The fathers genes are normally dominant, however the color and markings of a minpin are also dominant, SO the father should be a chihuahua. (09/01/2007)
By Bernie
Here's a picture of Lucy-Lu. I adopted her when she was 7 weeks old and was told she was a chihuahua. Now that she's grown up and based on her behavior I believe she's a mix of mini pin and chi? She weighs 9 lbs, and is lean and tall. She's very sweet, and gets along great with people and other dogs. She's demanding when she wants attention and can be relentless at times but I wouldn't want another dog. (09/04/2007)

This is a photo of my baby boy, Marley. Marley is actually a chihuahua/yorkie mix (chorkie), but he looks a lot like many of these photos. In response to Sunshine23 and her puppy Layla, I'm guessing she is a yorkshire terrier/chihuahua mix, b/c she looks nearly identical to Marley! (Granted, Marley's a little older). (09/04/2007)

We thought our dog was a dachshund-chihuahua-terrier mix. Because his front feet turn out like dachshunds do. Also, his body is kind of long. He has the ears of many of these dogs pictured here. His name is Rudy. He was rescued. He has behavior problems because we think he was kicked and hit. But he's our baby and he's good to mom and dad. (09/04/2007)

I just wanted to add these pics of a chipin for Puppylover to compare Mrley to. This is 50/ 50 chipin. I think that Layla and Marley look like this- Let me know what you think...
(09/04/2007)
I think Rudy might have some Corgi in him too. The only reason I say that is because my dog Stitch's friend is a pure Corgi and he has some of Rudy's features. (09/04/2007)
In response to the chipin photo, I agree that Layla and Marley look similar to him. Marley's mom is yorkie/dad is chihuahua, but its crazy that both mixes can look so similar... There are differences I see b/t Chipins and our pups; Marley and Layla do not appear to be as lean, nor are their faces as long and narrow. What do you think? (09/05/2007)

Here's my puppy named Georgianna. She's just 3 months old and So cute! Not had big problems house-training. (09/05/2007)
By MayfairDuchess
Puppylove- Yeah I agree they do look just alike. Like I said before, I 'm not really sure what Layla is - but I love her the same! I was told she was mixed with Jack Russel Terrier - that's why I didn't believe it. The people may have told the wrong breed of terrier. About Marley- how much does he weigh now? I'm just wanting to get an idea of how big Layla is going to get. When I took her the vet on 29th of August she weighed 5.4 lbs. I have gotten all of her shots and between her last 2 visits she only gained less than a pound. Let me know... (09/06/2007)
Here's a picture of my Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua, Otis, sleeping with his big brother (a Rottweiler) Chance. I'll post more pictures of just Otis if I get the chance. (09/06/2007)

Here's another picture of Otis. I've seen a few others that have the same colors as him. I wasn't sure exactly what he was until I saw this forum. These dogs are soo cute! (09/06/2007)

Hello everyone!! I haven't posted in a really long time but always come on here to check out all the sweet chi-pins. I haven't made a new picture of Pinto, the Chia and Gracie, the chi-pin...BUT will soon because they are expecting!! We are really excited. Gracie's normal weight is around 9 pounds and she is now 12.8 and about to bust. I can't wait to see what the puppies look like. I read that the male dominates. Does this mean that the pups will be smaller? His normal weight is right at 5 pounds.
Thanks for any suggestions and comments. (09/08/2007)

Hi all, just thought i'd let you see a British Chipin. Spike is now 6 months old. His dad was a chihuahua and mum a mini pin.
He is extremely loving and loyal and loves a cuddle. Equally, he guards the home beautifully and is very protective. When we first got him his ears were huge and he looked more like a mouse! As he's grown he has become more like a fox.
He's an absolute asset to our family and we have now aquired a baby girl Chipin to join him!
You definately get the best of both in these babies! (09/14/2007)

This is my dog Daddy. I have had him for about 10 years. When I first got him I trained him to do everything even do his business in a cat box. Smart dog. He had one litter of pups (10). They came out all black with tan marks though, Long legs (jumpers). I'm looking for another pup same colors, same mix. I just love these dogs. If anyone has any brown pups for sale give me a email deelicious003 AT yahoo.com. See ya at a dog park! Delicious from Long Beach, CA (09/14/2007)

Here is a picture of my angel, Raoul Duke. We found him roaming the streets of our neighborhood and picked him up. It was the best decision I've ever made! By his looks, we assumed he was a chihuahua/min pin mix, and it was confirmed by our vet. We've never seen another, so it's great to see there are other people blessed with this spastic little angel. :) (09/17/2007)

I got her and was told she was a chihuahua/yorkie. Everybody says she looks like a baby pincher. Now seeing the pictures, he looks like a pincher mix. What do you think? (09/17/2007)

Here is my little girl Quila. She was rescued off the streets running with a pack of dogs. She is the best. She loves kids. Her best time is when the kids are chasing her and she runs circles around them. (09/18/2007)

I am from Phenix City Alabama. I have a pin mix chui. I have a 9 mth old. They are wonderful. Funny, sweet and very, very nosey. If someone in the house brings in a bag or even leaves a purse on the floor, she is in it quick. She will get something out of it and take off with it. It's so funny. I can't take her out in public though. She will bite a stranger in a minute. If she does not know someone she will bite. I have paper trained mine. I have had mine since she was 4 weeks old. You will fall in love with it I promise.

This is for Nicole (guest post) regarding your puppy pic you posted thinking it may be part yorkie. We just had a litter of chi-pins born 9-8, pic is below. There is one that looks like yours. It is amazing that we have different colors when both mom and dad are brown. I can post pics again when they get older, but the way yours looks, I truly believe it may be a chi-pin. But of course I'm no expert. Just thought I'd give you an opinion. (09/21/2007)

To the person who isn't sure if it's a yorkie/chihuahua and thinks it is a min pin mix because of the color, if you shaved a yorkie's hair off, it is marked like a min pin (dark with tan points). Also chihuahuas come in that color to. I have a chocolate & tan chihuahua yorkie mix, he is totally smooth unlike the yorkie dad, but he did get his coloring from the yorkie (that dark w/ tan). Hope that helps! I looked at the picture and I think it is a yorkie/chi. He's adorable either way! (09/28/2007)

I bought my dog as a full chihuahua. I was told his mom was tea cup and his dad was deer. both were under 5 lbs. When my now 6 month old pup was only 4 months he was already 7 lbs. I was constantly being told he looks like a mini pin. I didn't believe it until I looked on line. He is now 10 lbs! and looks just like many of the chi/pins on this page. I'm guessing that he is also. The owners must have had a mistaken litter... I love him, but he wont fit the carriers I got when he was new...I think he is even going to get bigger! (10/01/2007)

This is my beautiful 4 month old baby Bella!!! We were told that she was pure Chi. But when we received her at only 5 weeks old... we realized that she was a mix of some sort... but not sure what. After seeing the pictures of CHIPINS... I am convinced that she is a CHIPIN... What do you think? (10/03/2007)

My baby Edward is the perfect little guy, he's a min pin / chihuahua mix as well and I can say that they are wonderful dogs! I have noticed that they are very willful / stubborn and potty traing was a hardship to say the least. I've had multiple other chihuahuas that have been potty trained no problem, but just like they say, Min pins's can be very hard to potty train, and I found that to be very true with my little one....I wouldn't trade him for the world though, you might just have to put in a little extra effort in that department :) (10/03/2007)

This is a picture of my Deuce. He was named for the black spots on each front foot. I love him dearly and he is very protective. Does know how to keep my 6 year old in check though. lol. I am quite frustrated with the potty training aspect though. At times he does really well, then for a while he has accidents all the time. If anyone has any tips to help with this, please, email me at atomic.beauty AT yahoo.com. He is almost 2 and I can't figure out what to do. (10/07/2007)

Hi!
We have a six-year-old "Minchi" that we adopted from a shelter when she was 3. She is FABULOUS! Very intelligent, very loving...very attached! She is very friendly, but terrified of little children. She gets separation anxiety because min-pins are very owner-oriented. However, I love this mix because she is so small (9.5 lbs) and very cute. HUGE ears! Just a great mix...not high-strung or yappy. I got bailey about a year ago at an animal shelter, He's been the best dog, very friendly, definitely a lap dog! He tends get a little aggressive towards larger dogs, small dog complex I guess. It takes him awhile to warm up to new people, but other than that hes awesome! I think hes chipin mix, he certainly looks like one, but I can't say for sure. He's definitely cute regardless! I am posting a photo of my dog,and I am not sure if he is a min pin/chi mix (he looks a lot like some of these dogs except he has a curly tail) but a vet also said he looked like he had Basenji in him to. People also say he looks like he has shepherd, except for his size...Any ideas? Either way we love him...We adopted him from a local shelter. He comes up to our knees. I've been searching and searching for his breed or breeds...just want to know! (10/17/2007)

This is my Chipin, Zoey. She is such a little princess...but she doesn't take any heat from her big Lab brother. She loves to cuddle under a blanket at night and loves to chase lizards around the back yard. She is my best friend and I never thought I could love an animal as much as I love her!! (10/21/2007)

Hey, this is Gabby my baby, when I got her I thought she was a chihuahua, but see looks now more min pin, so i think she must be a mix.what ever the case she is the cutest, sweetest, little angel to me that is. She does however believe that she is as big and strong as my Shepperd, and Tyson knows who the boss is (hehe)! It's true, dynamite comes in small packages!
The only thing I'm having a prob with is 'potty' training her, any one got advise? I've tried everything! (10/22/2007)

I just adopted my little guy "Tazzie" (Tasmanian Devil) yesterday from my local animal control shelter. He is doing beautifully. He did well in his crate last night (only 5 min. to settle down). Loves to snuggle. Gets along great with my Brittany mix. The cats aren't so sure about him but watch from a safe distance. He appears to be a chi/pin based on pictures everyone has posted. Also, his disposition is as others describe of their doggies. (10/24/2007)

This is my baby, Bazil. He is about 1 year old now and is the sweetest, calmest, biggest pacifist dog I have ever had. I do believe he is a a Chihuahua/M. Pincher mix. I noticed that there are several dogs in this thread that look a lot like Bazil. I would welcome anyone to email me privately to compare notes and share stories. CTPManatee AT gmail.com
