What can you feed a lady bug larva? We're doing an experiment with my kids letting them see how things change from one form to another. We did moths and butterflies now I wanted to try something different so we're doing lady bugs from eggs to full lady bugs, but I need to know what I can feed the larva besides aphids?

my first instinct is that they eat leaves or other things in their natural environment, but Idon't really know so i googled it
www.ladybug-life-cycle.com/
it sounds like they will eat any other soft-bodied insects around, so if you've run out of aphids but can go collect other bugs or mites they'll be happy living off that
additionally of course ifyou have $20 you can go to a site like this or Amazon and purchase ladybug larva food
www.educents.com/
They like honey and sugar
It's neat that you are sharing nature with your children.
Did you get these as a kit? My friend who homeschools had such kits and they had explicit instructions to ensure success, that included feeding and water protocols. If you are using a kit and it didn't come with info, maybe the site has them online or call them.
This site has instructions for their particular kit online - maybe it will be useful if your kit was the same set up.
Good luck!
