Cucumbers and lettuce should only be used as emergency food because it is not great for Ladybugs. What they do love is fruit, fresh flowers, plants/twigs, placed in a terrarium setting. Here is a helpful link - schoolofbugs.com/.../

I am not sure if you found this ladybug or you bought it. I would not suggest that you keep a wild ladybug for a pet. But if you want to try and do this there is plenty of information online on how to feed them. Cucumbers are not one of the foods that you should be giving to this ladybug for sure. Ladybugs have a very special diet and need to stick to this diet.

I would suggest that if you want to care for the ladybug correctly that you go on YouTube and watch some of the educational videos they have there on the care of a ladybug and follow the care instruction carefully. Otherwise, it is a good idea to just let the ladybug go back into nature and allow the ladybug to take care of herself.

Is this one from the wild or one purchased for homeschooling?

The home schooling ones should come with very clear feeding instructions and directions.

If it is one from the wild, I honestly ask that you release it back to the world and let it eat what it needs from its environment.

There are plenty of educational videos if you need teaching tools. Type in to YouTube Ladybug and life cycle or educational videos and there are lots!

You can keep a ladybug inside for a while but their housing should be set up properly or they will not live.
If you have a wild ladybug it is recommended that you release them in the fall as they can hibernate in their natural surroundings.
"It's a good idea to release your captive ladybugs back into the wild come fall so that they can hibernate and mate to produce a new generation."

Check out this site.
Lots of information so read carefully.
