I am a science coach with our school district and our first graders are going to be raising and caring for ladybugs in the classroom. We need to know what to feed them other than aphids? Hopefully we can find a food that is "classroom friendly". Can you help?

I did a little research, and the adults do eat aphids, and what I found suggests you keep adults in captivity no more than several days, (they suggest feeding honey water), since their nutrition will not be adequate. If you are purchasing from a supplier that regularly supplies schools, they may be able to offer a more complete diet. Good Luck.
they also eat strawberries
Ants
you can also give them honey on a bottle cap
Thanks for that
Yeah I have a ladybug and it loves aphids;honey water.
Thanks here's a tip for winter if you have a light colored house in winter you should see ladybirds in the corners of your house found alot
I have one question i found online that u can feed them fruit,is that ok.& what can i give her to drink
Fruit is often recommended. I would only give the ladybug water to drink.
Here is a website for keeping pet ladybugs and their diet which raisins and bananas and other sweet non acidic fruits are recommended with a moistened paper towel kept sprayed with water for them to drink.
Here is the website I found: www.ladybuglady.com/
Thank you Robyn, I want to start looking after Ladybirds now.
Thank you that was all very helpful but I have ladybug larvae what do I feed that? The same thing?
You'll need to do your research; but I believe they can eat jam/jelly. I don't think the adults eat aphids, I believe it is the immature ladybugs, although the adults are drawn in by the honeydew the aphids produce and....well, nature takes its course.....and the larval ladybugs clean up the aphids.
Ladybirds can drink honey water. Adult ladybirds can't eat aphids
Ya! Ladybugs eat aphids
Raisons or honey to eat. Put some water on a coton ball or tissue paper to drink. Put them in a small container or jar and put some soil at the botom with grass over it (this is optional). Change the food every 2 days and the water every week. Hope that helps! Good luck!
I have 2 ladybugs and I have had them for 2 months in a big cage and they are now mating

Do they eat honeydew?
Hi I think you should feed the ladybug with small amounts of honey or sugar. Use a small bottle cap or similar to contain the food.
You can also feed your ladybug raisins or lettuce.
I have found a ladybug in my bathroom and have taken a piece of candy and rubbed it against a piece of wet cotton and the ladybug seems to be "eating" it.
Honey water
YOU feed them little drops of honey ,put a wet paper tall in so it can drink put the honey on a stick put leaves in with it too
Raisins and honey. Also make sure only feed it 1 or 2 drops a day. Or instead of water some juicy soft fruit like strawberries and blueberries

These foods are all classroom friendly and you can find these in your home or at your local supermarket. The foods you will need are
