Felt Carrot Money Pocket - hand holding the finished pocket I made one of these pockets for each of my kids. It's a cute way to give them each some spending money for Easter.

Supplies:

orange felt (1 precut piece makes 2 carrots)
orange embroidery floss (I used #970)
cardstock (for template)
scissors
tape
embroidery needle
pins

Steps:

Draw a template on a piece of cardstock. Then cut out the template and stick it on the felt with rolled pieces of tape.

Cut out two felt carrots for each pocket.

Cut a long length of embroidery floss and divide it into two pieces of 3 strands each.

Thread an embroidery needle and using a backstitch, start stitching the details onto one of the felt carrots. Lines that are close together can be done with a continuous piece of embroidery floss. Tie off the ends of the floss when you are finished.

Place the carrot with the stitched details on top of the other carrot. Then lay it on the template and put pins at the top to mark when you will start and stop sewing (see photo below). Then pin the two pieces together in the middle.

Using a backstitch, start at one marking pin and stitch all the way around the edge of the carrot, stopping at the other marking pin. Then continue stitching, only through the front carrot, until you reach where you started. This will leave an opening to insert the money.
