I lost everything which I had saved through a fire. I lost my son because of meningitis and was depressed for many years. I ran a cafe restaurant for the last three years. Everything was going well, but the businesses burned in January and everything was destroyed. I was left with nothing from the business. I had no contents insurance, because everything I bought was brand-new and had its own warranty for any breakdown, but was not covered for fire. I am left now with a lot of debts, loans, and a mortgage.
I am wondering if anyone knows any place I can get assistance in a time like this. Maybe even some help financially to keep me going for a while. There is no way I can afford a mortgage or even paying for my moving costs. I have my child to look after. I feel awful because I was a hard worker to keep my lifestyle in standard condition. I am a big loser. So any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you so much.

Heidi, you sound like a very strong person who has endured serious tragedy. It is hard to have to put one's life together again and then again. You need to find a job as soon as possible to take care of you and your childs' day to day needs. It will also keep you busy so depression doesn't enter the picture and overwhelm you.
I would consult someone who understands bankruptcy and get some good advice. We aren't meant to carry an impossible burden, and the law allows for that. But you need to reach out and get started. Many people are going through very difficult times right now. Find a friend who will listen to you and support you. Best of luck to you, and I am so sorry for your loss.
