Finch Has One Eye Closed?

My finch's one eye is always closed. What is the reason and how can I cure it? Will it automatically cure itself? Please suggest some remedy to me or whether I want to go to a vet clinic.

There is something called House Finch Eye Disease. You need to go to a vet.

I never mess with the health of my pets so I am of the mind to recommend a call to a vet that specializes in birds. If you have a vet with an established relationship they may make a recommendation over the phone or request a visit. Better safe than sorry with the feathered child!

Post back what you learn. Prayers for healing!

Bird bathing and showering might be the answer! When I was a girl I kept a caged bird. I have found (sadly) that my acquaintances never knew (until I demonstrated) they should wash their bird cages and birds on a regular basis. Provide little birds a bath about once a week with warm water sprinkled gently from above so they can keep their eyes and feathers clean. Birds love bathing in a small dish of warm water on the floor of the cage (remove the food trays, etc. first and set the cage in a sink so splashed water can run off down your drain).

Sprinkle the bird or birds birds gently with warm water from above (dropped slowly) and allow the birds to flutter in the "rain" which helps them keep their eyes and faces clean. Let them sit and splash in the bowl, too, so their undersides get clean. Be sure to let the birds dry in a warm cozy nook in your home, not in a draft. Washing the entire cage well (by first putting the birds in a safe spot) will also keep the birds clean and healthy. My sweet, clean little Willie lived to be 9 years old and she never got sick!
