I have 2 pairs of finches in my cage, 1 of the females just laid an egg and now she and her mate are being extra protective and a little aggressive towards the other pair. Should I move the other pair into their own separate cage or should I just leave everything alone since the other pair has started laying? I don't want to disturb the other pair since they just laid their first egg today and I don't want them to get scared or reject the egg or stop laying eggs. What should I do?

They should be moved to a separate cage.
I don't raise finches, but I do raise parakeets. I have 6 couples in a large cage. I have given each couple their own box or area for laying eggs. In my experience it is natural for the first couple to be protective of their eggs. Once the other couples start laying their eggs all settles down. I'm afraid if you move the second couple now to a different cage they will reject their egg and stop laying other eggs.
