I had 2 finches and they had an egg, and this morning I found my female finch dead. They had food and water and no signs of attacking or anything. And I now have an egg and I can't tell if it's fertile or not or even how old it is. What should I do?

I would not do anything. It probably will not hatch. Get another female and try again.
There is not a lot you can do right now on this. You should remove the egg from the cage and clean it out really good. You will need to get a new female and start again.
