Go to recycling centers. Put a want ad on Freecycle.
Making a bottle tree? Or a walls?
So many interesting things can be made with wine bottles.
Glass is not usually available at recycle centers but you can place wanted ads on FreeCycle, Craigslist, and Nextdoor. Just be sure to specify what size and maybe even if only round or any kind.
Try recycling centers-- I know mine in Los Angeles has them but they are definitely not clean. Most will want some money for them. If you're looking for freebies, post an ad in the "looking for" sections of Craigslist and NextDoor
Ask for empties from your favorite restaurant that serves wine. Most will save the days bottles for you IF you get back there in the evening to pick them up promptly.
Check with some of the bars in your area.
My husband and I enjoy making glasses from old wine and liquor bottles. We have gotten permission from a couple of local bars to pull empty bottles directly from their glass recycling. Perhaps you could ask around, especially if you have access to a winery or tasting room that is using the right sort of bottles.
I also have had some of my wine loving friends save unusual or colorful bottles for me.
Good luck! What are your plans for the bottles?
