Do you know where in the Berks county area I can find an organization that helps people out with free furniture?

Go to the office of the Salvation Army and tell them what you need, they will give you a voucher to take to their Thrift Store and if they have the items that you need, they will give it to you. They will only give free necessities, no TVs or electronics. You will be able to pick the things you get, but you won't be picking from the best selection. Thrift stores usually keep a specific section for free items. More than likely you will have to transport the stuff yourself, too. Also speak with you pastor, he might know of some members of the congregation that have some spare furniture. There is also freecycle.com, however, there again you will have to transport the stuff.
Check out Craig's List in your state and then narrow it down to your city. They have a section called "Free" which has everything for free that people do not want and is willing to give to you even furniture.
Go to Free stuff on Craigslist, then look up local Yahoo groups you will probably find Freecycle it's like Craigslist. you offer or receive only everything is free.
