I'm sorry that you have found yourself in this type of situation but it is difficult to believe that it all happened overnight but you are like setting a deadline when trying to find free furniture and that is like saying I want free help and I want it "NOW".

• That statement is not meant to be insulting, it is just that when looking for free help it is not always a "now" thing but you might be lucky and find at least some of the things you will need.
• Many families are in need of some of the same things you are looking for so usually it is a first come, first serve sort of thing.
• The people who are the most diligent and consistent in their search will probably find more of what they need in the shortest length of time.
• The link that Pghgirl gave gives all of the information about probable resources so there is no need to repeat that information here.

• One of the most important things that most people overlook is that you have to provide your own help to load and unload anything you find and that you have to have transportation to carry whatever you find home with and your help will have to be willing to carry it into your new apartment.

Churches can help with free furniture. Here are some other ideas.

Curb before garbage day
Thrift stores can give to the needy
Freecycle
Craigslist

I am sorry to hear of your situation, hope things get better for you and the kids. If you can find a local thrift shop quite often if you tell of your need they will donate used furniture to you, especially if it is a piece that they can not sell in the store, also it is possible they can help you find a donation center.
