Finding Free Furniture?

I'm a single mother of 4 children. We have been living with family members. I just found a house for us. I'm in desperate need of 4 beds and dressers for my children. Any suggestions? or agencies that offer vouchers?

Contact your local United Way and see if they can help.

Be sure to tell them your entire situation and if anyone in your family has chronic health issues (asthma, etc.) there are subsets of help out when people have health issues.

A United Way finder is www.unitedway.org/find-your-united-way (you have to put your zip code in or pick your country).

The other thing you can try, because you will need help getting the items to your new home, is see if there is a church or religious organization in your town that offers assistance rehoming people (meaning help with trucks and people to move you.)

For example where I am there are religious organizations that help resettle people who came to the US as refugees, if you met their criteria, and were in Pittsburgh, they could help you.

There are also organizations of all denominations (and some that are non-denominational that work with folks who had issues with homelessness and they also do the same things....offer help getting rehomed if you met their criteria.

There are other subsets for help if you had behavioral health issues, or a life threatening illness, or a disabled child, or if you are disabled, etc. It is all about asking and seeing what is out there.

Start making calls to the United Way, churches, synagogues, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and such and ask for help. If someone says no, ask if they know someone.

Do you have any family or friends that may be getting rid of any furniture? You could ask any neighbors too as a start!
Other sites you can check for free furniture, on Facebook Group, Marketplaces, Craigslist, NextDoor, Freecycle - all under the free section.
You can make a post and ask any Facebook friends you may have.
You can contact your local Salvation Army for Free Furniture Voucher, reach out to your local branch to see if they will help you

Long shot, but some newspaper classified ad has free section but it may vary you can check while at the market the newspapers without buying it. If you find any information you can snap a photo.
Ask local church community
Could you offer services? Example you can baby sit someones kid and they can play with yours and in return earn money so you can purchase furniture.
Check out Goodwill OUTLET if you have one! I went to one and the prices were incredibly cheap under $5 for nice sturdy furniture, even bikes for under $2!
