Finding Free or Low Cost Pet Clinics in New York?

July 13, 2017

I live in Westchester County, NY. I always see the mobile truck for free/shots in NYC. Does Westchester offer anything like this to their residents?

I have two Pit puppies that need their shots and sorry Petland is too costly to do on my fixed income.

I don't live in NY but I've never heard of free pet care anywhere. I know there is not here in Lubbock, Texas.

My Daughter lives in Austin and she told me the ASPCA charges a fee there.

Easy to find out. Just look up the phone number for the closest ASPCA for your area and call them and they will let you know the details.

I found a kitten just about a week old. I picked her up, wrapped her up, put her in my bag, and brought her home. She was up because she had little bugs on her and her mother's blood on her. I found her sometime in August and need for her to get her shots because now she has little white worms coming out her butt when she uses the bathroom, so I would like to know when the next truck coming out to Brooklyn.

Did you know you can go to your local pet store and buy deworming medications for pets? Talk to the senior staff member there (manager, assistant manager, or long time employee).

You have to know how much the kitten weighs, as the drops are given according to the pet's weight.

I can't afford a vet at this time. I need to know where I can take my dog. She hasn't eaten for 3 days and she can't poop either. Please help me find a vet that won't charge me a lot.

Vets pay for their training-college, medical school, and then pay for their clinics, staff, etc. They also have to live and pay expenses like the rest of us. So, there are very few "low-cost" vets. If you can't afford vet visits, etc., then you can't afford a pet.

If you were ill or had an accident, you would expect immediate medical care and probably pay for some or most of it yourself. Suggest you find a way to provide medical treatment now for your pet. The longer you wait, the more difficult and expensive the problem will be and your dog is sufferiing.

Go to the ASPCA website and you'll find all of the information you need including their 800# and the schedules of the truck for your area. From what I remember they don't do declawing on their truck.

Please reconsider having your cat declawed. It can make a cat very aggressive, and they will sometimes bite. They realize they have lost their defence and it changes their personality. It is also an excruciatingly painful operation for the cat. It consists of amputating what on your hand would be the finger up to the 1st knuckle.

The cats claws are so intertwined in the cats paw that this is the only way to do it. They walk the rest of their lives on feet with no toes. Declawed cats often give up using the litter box because of the pain they have following the procedure. It just isnt worth it, even to you, not to mention the cat. If it is ever lost it is helpless. Why not try learning to clip the cats nails.

It is easy and you can usually get them to cooperate. Get some good scratching toys for the cat. Many Vets will clip nails for free. I do my own cats when my daughter visits. She holds the cats and I clip. Do look into some websites that describe this procedure, and think hard before you do it.

I typed "ASPCA" into my Google search bar, and their website came up first. Here is a link to information about their services in New York City, including their contact information (with phone number) toward the lower right-hand side of the page:

Please, no vaccines. If you knew what was in them you would never consent to having anything stuck with poison. Google vaclib.org and check ingredients. Mercury(now called thimerisol) aluminum, rotting monkey brains, animal pus, antifreeze, human foetal tissue, loads of ugly. Much on this site written by doctors that have delved into the question. Rabies vaccine for your pet required. Google thuja for instructions on how to lessen the reactions to poison vaccines. Build your pets immune system. When you vaccinate, you destroy the immune system. My step grandson died 3 days after vaccine and i have studied much in the past years. Parvo vaccine often causes parvo. Rabies vaccine does not protect but does do harm. Study, think, before you poison. Protect your babies.

September 24, 20110 found this helpful

Terrible advice not to vaccinate pets. Vaccines boost the immune system not suppress it. And Rabies is mandated by law, you cannot legally refuse to vaccinate against rabies with with some unpleasant repercussions.
My advise visit the AVMA website and check out their recommendations.

Generally speaking what ever government agency in your area is responsible for animal control provides the necessary shots on a sliding scale or free for neutered pets.

Be a responsible human your furry friends will love you even more. Kitkat

Hi - you should check Google for your local schedule as Thrifty "people" are from all around the world but there may not be a fellow "Queens".

Just Google the same question and you should find all the info you need. I believe you will also have to make an appointment for your pet.

Nothing is simple and this is the most plain and simple answer there is to your question. You're probably talking about the ASPCA Mobile Clinic. It is free only if you are on public assistance but it is low cost otherwise. Here are the services offered:

What services are provided for pets?
Spay or neuter surgery

Rabies vaccine (Under New York City law, we must provide this unless a pet parent presents a rabies vaccination certificate signed by a veterinarian. A rabies tag is not sufficient proof.)

FVRCP vaccine for cats/DA2PPV vaccine for dogs (We do not provide vaccinations or any other services to animals who are NOT being spayed/neutered.)

Nail trim

Small tattoo, placed close to the incision site when an animal is spayed/neutered (Tattoos let shelters and veterinarians easily identify that an animal has already been spayed/neutered. This is especially important for female animals, as presence of a tattoo can help the animal avoid undergoing an unnecessary surgery in the future.)

E-collar

Microchip, offered for $20 per animal

Go to this link for more information including a schedule posted at the bottom of the page. It also gives a local phone number you can call if the website is difficult to understand.

Before you vaccinate, please read ingredients in vaccines, then decide. If you choose to have mercury, aluminum, antifreeze, formaldehyde and a host of other gook and poison, be prepared to treat your pet for brain damage, allergy, bad skin and loads of auto immune upsets. Documented ingredients on vaclib.org or most antivaccine sites. Studied for years because of loss of step grandson (3months old) from vaccine. Good advice is to protect with homeopathics. Build healthy immune system with proper food and healthy conditions. Rabies vaccine required by law but homeopathic Thuja can lessen danger. Love em, please don't force them into a life of allergy and brain damage.

I don't live anywhere near New York but in Indiana we use country vets or check with the local animal shelter. Our animal shelter did a check up and year ly vaccinations for 1/2 of what our normal vet charges. When I called to set up to get my dogs shots with the vet it was going to be $100. They charge more for a office call then my family doctor does! That's when I decided to shop around. It really does pay! Hope this helps.

I am Brianna's grandmother. Her dog Snoopy was hit by a car about 1 1/2 years ago. His front leg was the most serious. At this time he can run around and is mostly himself, but has no use of the front leg. Is there a local vet who could do any operation for free or low cost? My granddaughter lives in the city of Rochester, New York.

Thank you for any help at all.
