Had a house fire, have now ran out of money The landlord is not finding a place for us; me, my husband, 2 dogs and 1 child. Please, we need help. What can we do? We ran out of money. It's been 5 months since the fire. Nowhere to go, going to be homeless in this heat.
We are in Arizona. We got help from the Red Cross. That was money, we got $600 thanks to them but we have been living in a motel waiting for a place. The landlord said he will try but he's been lying to us. Feels like we have nowhere to run. We lost everything in the house fire. It was caused by faulty wiring.

If this is the landlord's fault that the fire started in the first place he is the one who needs to find you a place to live. I would contact social services and explain the situation I was in and let them know that your landlord is not following through with his promises to fix your home. You can also try and seek some legal help through the courts and ask them for assistance for a lawyer. I am not sure how much can be done right at the moment because of the virus and Arizona is one of the major hot spots right now. You may need to make some phone calls to see if you can find some assistance and go back to the red cross and find out if they have any type of low-income house or temporary housing available right now to help you out.

I am so sorry you are going through this! This was the fault of the landlord, so it is time to get a pro-bono lawyer and sue the apartment complex.

On top of this, I would also look into section 8 housing, and get on the list to have one. You could get one that has no rent and no bills to pay.
In addition, I would suggest looking up 'legal aid' in your area. They will pay for the lawyer's fees.
Sometimes people choose to live in a tent in a campground, during the warm months, because there are good facilities there.
I would also let all your friends know that you are looking for a camper or tent.

if the fire was due to the landlord's negligence then you have a legal matter to consider. If you wish to pursue that matter you need to contact family services in your area and ask them to help you get free or reduced cost legal help. This will be a slow process (weeks/months) but if you have proof then you may win but how much or how long is anybody's guess.
You will have to start checking with all the agencies that offer help as you may not qualify for some and even if you qualify things may not change immediately but some of these organizations offer temporary assistance.
Especially with food stamps and clothing and medical help for the children. Perhaps you already have food stamps and Medicaid?
Nobody can do this for you so try to start checking right away.
