I know an elderly, disabled, low income couple in the state of Oregon that have not had a working heater for at least 2 years because they are unable to pay to replace or repair it. Every time the weather gets cold they stay sick. I was wondering if there is any way someone could remedy their situation? I am very concerned for them.

I am 74 and live in Ga. here we have a Federal HUD program for seniors over 65 that are low income who need help with needed home repairs , if you could call the county to the City the couple live in to see if they have the same there, if not maybe they can forward you to an agency that can offer help.
Here in 2014, they replaced my heater and air, I also needed a new hot water heater which they replaced. I believe there is some help out there for that couple some where in their State. In Ga. you can call 211 which is the United Way and they can tell you about all agency you have in your state that you can apply for help.
Do they have a Weatherization Program in the state that they live in? They might want to check this out. I am applying in the state that I live in. I wish them the best of luck.
God bless them!
