On Craigslist, you can search under For Sale > free > and see if there are any free furniture or inexpensive furniture you could purchase.

If you live near a Goodwill Outlet (you will find inexpensive furniture). I also see toward the end/beginning of the month a lot of apartments/condos people move in & out and leave stuff behind in the garbage.

You do not say where you live but if you live in the US there are many places to search. Just remember, You will most likely have to have help to load and unload and also some type of transportation to haul your pieces home.

  • You could start with Freecycle and "free" items on Craigslist. Look for any items you can use but also place an ad on both sites stating what you need.
  • Another good place to search is Nextdoor.com as this is within your area and you can also place an ad stating what you need.
  • nextdoor.com/
  • You can check your local thrift stores as many of these receive furniture and usually sell it at reasonable prices. Check Salvation Army Thrift Store, Habitat Recycle Store, Brother's Keeper, Hospice Thrift Store, and any of your local church thrift stores. Many private thrift stores also have good prices on furniture.
  • Google thrift stores with your zip code and most of these will show.
  • Good luck - hope you find lots of nice things.

Go to curbs the day before garbage day. You can also look on Freecycle or Craigslist.

My favourite two places for free stuff is Craigslist.org and Nextdoor.com. They both have free stuff sections!

also do not overlook facebook buy sell trade groups. They have them in every area

i personally love curbside pickup. You fid amazing things especially if you go to either a posh neighbourhood before trash day (especially in spring) or to a college student area at the end of semesters. I have found stuff for free in perfect condition that I eitehr sold for a profit or that I use to this day

also on craigslist go to the FREE section in the buy sell section and look out for posts labeled CURB ALERT. A lot of these will even post a list of pictures of the sorts of things you can get. Ive gotten 2 bookshelves this way
