Buy two latches from Amazon ($2 for the pair) and coarse thread pan head screws #8 or #10). Drill tiny holes for screws into the cooler, but the holes must be much smaller than the diameter of the thread. Screw the latches in. Do not use drill or impact gun/drill to install the fasteners.
