The webbing supporting the mattress is starting to break away from the metal clips that hook into the frame. Where can I get replacement straps/clips? Furniture upholsterers are unable to help.

I am not sure that I have seen this webbing or clips on a bed frame so picture would have helped me, but - you can buy heavy duty webbing in rolls at most auto parts stores and also at some Walmart type stores.
It is possible you could take one of your clips with you to one of these stores and someone might be able to find something similar or maybe a substitute.
Take pictures and go to a mattress store.
What brand is the sleeper? Maybe you can contact their customer service for the company and get authentic parts. If it is still under warranty, they should send them to you for free.
