I just moved from York, Pennsylvania. I have nothing, but some of my clothing. Where can I get a voucher for a bed to sleep on? I'm living with my sister. I'm 56 years old and have fibromyalgia and live in chronic pain. I really need a bed to sleep on. The floor I sleep on is not good for my body.
Please and thank you.

You can get in if you put a want ad on Freecycle, Craigslist or similar sites. Notify the local churches. Some thrift stores will give mattresses and furniture free of charge to the needy.
You don't say where you moved to, but in many towns churches, synagogues, and mosques help folks with basic needs if they are part of the congregation. They also may know of resources for the community in general. They are always a good place to start.
You could also call your local United Way and see if your new town has other services available.
You will also need to find a resource to help you get it to your new home and set it up. Do you have friends or family who could help with that...maybe a truck or van or car that it could be tied to the roof (my least favorite option but sometimes you just have to go that route)?
Prayers that you find what you need quickly and easily.
Im sorry, i just moved here to shenadoah, Va. And im looking for a matress and boxspring for free if possible. I just moved in with my sister and im 56 yrs old and sleeping on floor at this time.
Here are 3 places to start:
Winchester Congregational Community Action at (540)662-4318.
Your United Way office: 540-536-1610
Virginia has a general relief program also: 800-552-3431
I would hope if these places can't help, they could point you to some place that could.
Sending prayers for solutions!
