I'm on SSD and disabled. I'm in need of a queen size boxspring and mattress. The one I have is over 12 yrs. old. Can someone please give me some ideas on who to contact or where to look? I would be so grateful. Once my rent, utilities, and auto insurance are paid my head is hardly above water.

Where can I get help with queen size mattress n box spring
You can check on the free section of Craigslist.
Your biggest problem may not be in finding a bed but may be in getting someone to deliver a queen size bed and mattress and also removing the one you have and hauling it to a dump site. This can be a big job and will definitely require more than one person. This means someone will be giving away a bed/mattress AND paying for a truck and gas AND giving several free hours of somewhat hard work/labor for 2 or more people. I am only mentioning this as many people do not realize that something like this may require more than just finding something on Craigslist or Freecycle. Now if you are a member of a local church - someone there may be willing to go through all of this if they feel there is a real need.
You are very correct in saying this! I know because this happened to me...I used to go 2 this Drs office that was big into helping low income people by introducing them to local resources. They also provided transportation for patients (like me) who otherwise had no way to the Dr. I can't remember how it came up but at some point I obv told the driver about my awful mattress bc one day the receptionist told me she could write a recommendation letter to this place on my behalf where I could get a mattress. I told her that'd be great but I didn't know anyone with a truck to get it to my house (over 30 miles away). She told me to ask the driver bc she was pretty sure he had access to one. He told me he could help so she did the paperwork & I received a call from the agency with a date & time to pick up my queen sized mattress. I told the driver and it happened to be on a day when I had a Dr appt as well so I was so excited at the thought of finally having a comfortable place to sleep. The timing couldn't have been better bc the appt time lined up perfectly where we could have picked up the mattress after my Dr appt BUT the appt time came & went & it ended up being hours b4 the driver showed up (in the usual van) 2 take a full load of patients home.
You can try looking in Craigslist or Facebook (some people offer for free)
