Finding a Lost Dog?

Finding a Lost DogMy 5 year old German Shepherd recently ran away maybe 3 days ago and it was during a storm and he's terrified of storms. We have 10 acres of land, but we can't go through it all because it's mostly woods. I am very worried because a lot could've happened between then and now.

Prayers for his safe return!

Suggestions to help find him include:

1. Call your local police department and all local animal shelters and report him missing--and share the photo and his name and how to get a hold of you

2. If he is chipped, tell the vet where he was chipped to be on the look out

3. If you have websites like Pet Finders or Next Door use them to tell people he is missing and how to get a hold of you

4. If you can post signs, do so in all major intersections and roads. Offering a reward can help!

Keep us posted.

I would put food in several locations. He will no doubt be hungry, and he will be drawn to the food.

Have flyers printed with your information and a picture of the dog. Distribute them to all local veterinarians and put them up wherever you can. If your dog is not chipped, be sure and have that done when you get him back.

Maybe invest in a thunder shirt to keep him calm in storms. Good luck to you and let us know.

Put out flyers with photos and descriptions everywhere. Try to ask everyone you come into contact with. Also place food and water out as far as you can so he can be fed if he is about.

aside from the usual (putting ads on craigslist, alerting veterinatians in the area, flyers) believe it or not they have pet detectives. I only know one person who hired one but they had no luck but still, they're out there)
