Finding a Vet That Will Take Payments?

I have a mixed Chihuahua and something is growing next to her nipples by her stomach. It keeps growing and I think it might be her ovaries.

It sounds like it could possibly be a mammary tumor or possibly some sort of mass. These can either be cancerous or a result of fatty tissue. If they are not cancerous, they typically do not require removal. However, if it is cancerous it would be best to catch it soon.
I would definitely call around and see if you can find a vet in your area who will allow you to set up a payment plan. If they will not do a payment plan, always ask what other payment options they have or accept. Some places may have some form of credit card you can apply for that they accept. My veterinary office does "Care Credit" which can be used for your pet's care and some other human care that isn't typically covered by insurance!

Note that "Care Credit" requires the financial information and good credit standing that all credit cards require.

Your best bet is the Humane Society or the ASPCA.

Vets take payments.

  • I do not know what area your in.
  • Call all the veterarians in your area to see who will take payments.
  • Also do a search on the internet.

You can check for vets on Yelp in your area and research their website to see if they offer any payment plans. If not, you can call them and ask.

Step 1
Finding a Vet.

Step 2
Look in the phone book for local vets .

Step 3
Make a list and start phoning any listed vets.

Step 4
Ask each one if they take payments.

Step 5
If there are several that do, be sure and find out the "carrying" charges.

Step 6
Good luck on getting your dog well !!

I'd start with the ones that are typically free for certain cases like ASPCA, and if that fails try Care Credit Veterinary: www.carecredit.com/.../

This does sound like mammary tumors. It is common in dogs that have not been spayed. It can be cancerous or not. If it is cancerous, you will need to have it treated right away. Call your local humane society.

They will know of programs that might help you. As a last resort, if you surrender your dog to the humane society they will give the dog medical care and place her up for adoption.
