I'm looking for a publication date for Whitman Tell-a-Tale Little Black Sambo 2661. Anyone know if there is a list out there somewhere?
Seems like there are several different publications so I would say you may have to look at several listings to be sure you are seeing the same version that you have.
It appears (to me) that original publication date was in 1950 and 1953 (First Editions show this date) but I did find several listings for you to review.

I am 63 and when I was little my grandmother gave me a book called "The Yellow Book of Fairy Tales". There is no date on the book. It was published by Whitman Publishing Co, Rancine, WI. Does anyone know how old this book is? The pages are old and worn.

I have a few very old books my dad has given to me. The dates aren't listed on some. I have a hard cover Grimm's Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm. The first page says German Fairy Tales By The Brothers Grimm with Eight Illustrations in Colors and Eighteen Drawings in Black and White.
A.L. Burt Company: Publishers New York. There is also a stamp symbol that reads Burt's Library of The World's Best Books. There are 397 pages. The earliest date with any publisher is the original and correct publication date. Later dates are simply different publishing companies.
