We cut down a tree in the late fall. There were poison ivy vines wrapped around part of the trunk. Is it safe to burn the wood if the vines are removed and it sits and dries out for a year?
Well, I've had a pile of poison ivy burned in the late summer - early fall after cleaning up property and I stood in front of the smoke and got poison ivy from it the next day. There's oils in poison ivy that collect in the smoke/fire. I would not attempt to burn even if dry. It's best to bag it up wearing gloves and leave it for the garbage collector. There are some people who have had their eyes swell shut from the plant; it's a serious allergic reaction. I was more fortunate.
