I have these earrings where several of the stones in the bottom earring have turned dark in color, which may be the metal, not the stones. I have tried to fix this by doing the following things:
None of these things totally removed the discoloration. Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
Unfortunately, if these are rhinestones, they have a foil backing. Once that gets wet (or even very damp) it will tarnish and turn black. This is irreversible. :-(
I have heard of people using Sharpie markers to change the look of rhinestones. Maybe you could do a pattern of, say, pink and black, being sure to include your damaged stones among the black ones. Might as well try it! Good luck!
This is due to the aging of the rhinestones. There is not much you can do.
Because your earrings appear to be more plated than a solid metal, there is not a whole lot that you can do without costing you triple to repair. You would have to replace stones and repair plated finish. Maybe trying to find to the same pair or one like it for this issue.
To prevent fake diamonds turning black/fake jewelry is to try to keep it dry and in air tight bag when not wearing.
