If the stitch selector is frozen this could be because you haven't used the machine in a very long time. In some cases, the oil inside the machine will freeze up because of the lint or dirt that has accumulated there for long periods of not using the machine. There are a few things you can try to get this dial unstuck and see if you can use it again. I am seeing that you say it will not turn in either direction. One of the suggestions was to try and turn it to a higher setting. Your pressure foot should be up when you try this one.

There is yet another way that might help you to get this unstuck. You will need to take a hairdryer and set it on medium heat and start to heat up the dial on your machine. This will take about 20 minutes to do this one. You will also need to clean out the bobbin area of the machine and add a drop of oil to the area. Make sure to remove the bobbin and the canister holder so that you can get behind and inside to get the lint and dust out of the machine. Keep adding the warm air to the machine and trying to turn the knob in the process.

If the hair dryer is not working the stitch dials are not accessible to you and the machine will need to be taken into the repair shop. Normally if you can get the machine warmed up enough then the dial will turn. Other than this there is another issue with the machine and you can't get access to the area to repair it yourself and the machine will need to go to a repair shop for repair.

it will turn from left to right, but the light won't change which you need to change to the green stitch beside each red one on the front of the machind

If you have not used your machine in a while it probably needs a good cleaning. This is a basic machine so it may be easy to clean even for an inexperienced person.

There are some videos available on YouTube that may help you but if this seems too complicated you may need to have it serviced at a machine shop or Sears Service Center.
You can contact Sears and ask them for help but they will probably want you to take the machine to their shop.

There could be something wrapped around the gear knob or the gear itself broken. Often there is sting or fabric that gets trapped in or around making the dial tighten and non functional.
