My daughter got blonde highlights added to her light brown hair. I didn't want them at the roots of her hair so I asked the hairdresser to cover the roots. The colour turned out too dark and completely different than the brown in her hair. We tried the vitamin C and Head and Shoulders fixes and it did lighten it a bit, but has left a slight ginger tone to it. Should we try it again? What's the best way for my daughter to go back to her natural colour with a few blonde bits through it?

Since it's not what you wanted, to back to the hair dresser so they can fix it.

Highlights are quite expensive and you paid a lot of money to have your daughter's hair done correctly. It is up to the shop to do the job that you have paid for.
