This YouTube video is for a Hermès typewriter, and hopefully it will help. m.youtube.com/
Sounds like your locking mechanism is broken!
It appears that the locking mechanism is broken inside the machine. You can have it replaced or you can try and find one to replace it youself. On YouTube they have many different videos that will teach you how to do this yourself.
There are a number of what seem to be comprehsnive YouTube troubleshooting videos:

I hope one helps you get typing again. There is nothing like the clickety-clack of a typewriter!

Many people think manual typewriters would be a 'piece of cake' to fix but believe me when you finally get the plate off there are so many very small pieces/springs that just looking a repair diagram should scare you (unless this is the type of thing you know something about).

There are a few sites that may offer suggestions (or at least tell you how complicated this problem may be) but it may take research.
You can check these sites but you will have to register (free) on each site.

There may be a local typewriter repair shop in your area (Google with your zip) that will give you a price to repair your machine (it may be something simple).
If you plan to keep using your Corona you may wish to know more about it.
Here is a link that has all of the Smith Corona Super G machines listed in a data base - with lots of information and pictures of each model.
Just scroll down until you see the pictures - find your model and click on picture for information about this machine.
Knowing the correct model number will help you find correct parts and ribbons.
