Flashing and Floaters After Cataract Surgery?

I recently had cataract surgery and now I see flashing several times a day, mostly in the morning upon waking and even in the middle of the night when I get up to use the bathroom. Is this typical and how long should something like this last?

Get back to your ophthalmologist asap. Flashing lights in your eyes can mean vessels are tearing. Floaters may last for quite a while, they are usually old blood being released to be absorbed, but can also mean you are bleeding. But the flashing lights are most ominous sign.
