Fleas or Head Lice?

I have had lice in the past (horrid experience) and I remember when I was getting them out of my head they crawled. Earlier today I shook my head and say a brown creature no bigger than the pin of a needle fall out and hop away. A month prior my cat caught a bunch of fleas, which we treated. What was it, and how would I go about making sure they never return?

First off lice don't hop. Most likely a flea. They might bite but they don't live on humans like they do animals. If are worried, here are some things to combat the problem.

Fleas love warm climates, so they love warm water. Put some water in a pie tin and put a couple drops of dish washing liquid in. This breaks up the surface adhesion and they drown. Then set it under a night light or safe lamp set on a flat surface (carpeting is too unstable).

Then sprinkle salt in your carpeting and let set for overnight. You can do both in the same night if you want. Vacuum well the next day, maybe lowering the level on the vacuum to get way down in it.
And finally, buy some Brewers Yeast tablets for your cat. They love them, and they make their blood undesirable to the fleas.

Fleas can and will live on humans if theres no preferred host around.

Poppycock. Fleas does live on human bodies and in human hair, and bite like hell. Don't give out false advice if you haven't experienced it yourself.

My friend got them at work when her colleagues brought them to work, slept with their dogs in the bed that other staff used on sleep in night shift. She got it in her hair and took them home without knowing she had them, until she started itching. She treated her hair with all the lice shampoos for a year but nothing changed until she found out it was fleas. She decided to cut all her hair off in desperation to rid her scalp of them. LICE SHAMPOO/TREATMENTS DON'T GET RID OF FLEAS.

These experience is serious, painful and uncomfortable for those of us who have been through it or is going through it We don't appreciate people who has not walked in our shoes, to put out information that's false. Keep your foolish opinions to yourself, and allow people who have had experienced living with fleas in their hair and on their bodies to share from their heart, how they permanently got rid of these evil menace. Thank you.
