I paid $400 for this record player from the original owners. I would love to restore its wood but the radio and stereo seem to be in perfect working condition. I haven't tried putting in a vinyl yet. But I want to make sure I paid a good price.

I am afraid you paid a little too much for the record player as the market suggests that the going price is far less BUT all depends on what it is worth to you !! It will look beautiful once you restore the wood , and I hope you find that the record player does work, I would go ahead and play a vinyl before taking the trouble to refinish.
