several sunflower pens in jar on railing I love beautiful things that you can make while spending almost nothing. I have made many of these for myself, they also make great gifts! Usually, a bouquet of flowers is around $20.00 and wilts within the week, these cost a fraction, and last till the ink runs dry. A beautiful gift that requires no crafting skills at all.:)

Place them in a jelly jar or vase, tie with whatever is handy, voila!
You can usually find these materials at your local Dollar Store.

Total Time: 1 minute

Yield: as many as you like!:)

Supplies:

1 pen ($.10)
1 floral tape ($2.00)
1 fake flowers ($.20)
1 scissors ($.00)
1 jelly jar ($.00)
1 ribbon ($.00)

Steps:

Cut your fake flower stem to about 3" with scissors.

Line the end of your ink pen up with the base of your flower, start wrapping with floral tape. Wrap in a downward spiral motion until you have covered the raw end of the stem.

Start wrapping in an upward spiral back toward the pen end.

Trim floral tape, press down firmly.

All done!

These are really cute and the other thing great about them is if you're in an office and someone borrows your pen, there's less chance they'll accidently walk off with it. Cute idea. I hope you win.

Oh, I've done rose BIC pens and put a dozen in a straw basket on my school desk. Other teachers didn't know the flower decorations were pens till I picked one out of the basket and they saw it was a pen.

Boy, were they surprise. I've given Poinsettia pens for Christmas, a set of twelve in a nice jar or coffee cup.

I've seen these in doctors offices and other places. Great idea and no one ever looses a pen.

Becky Miles, yes, it is a great project for kids too! My 6 year old loves making these. Every time we go to the dollar store she runs to the fake flowers to pick out a new bunch.

She's happy, and I'm only a dollar lighter.:)
