The completed plastic flower. You can make a beautiful flower from a simple plastic bottle. I used an iron to make this flower, not a candle flame. The hottest iron is not hot enough to melt plastic, so you won't ruin your iron or get charred edges on the petals, but it will be enough to make the flower petals curved. I also like this method because, unlike a candle flame, you cannot stain the petals with soot.

Total Time: 2 Hours

Supplies:

plastic bottle
cardboard
scissors
pencil
felt-tip pen
wire 0.8 mm diameter, I used copper wire from an old transformer
iron
pliers and wire cutters
awl

Steps:

Draw petals on cardboard and cut them out.

Cut a piece of flat plastic from the plastic bottle. Place the petal template on top, trace with a felt-tip pen and cut out. Cut out six largest petals and six slightly smaller, four smallest and five slightly larger (6, 6, 5, 4). You will have 21 petals in total.

Preheat your iron to maximum power. Apply each edge of the petal to the iron for a few seconds. This will make the edges of the petal look nice. Do the same for all the petals.

Place the edges of the petal on the heated iron for a few seconds to make the petal curved. Do the same for all the petals.

Make holes at the base of each petal.

Cut a piece of wire, thread it into the hole of the petal, bend wire in half. Slightly trim the sharp edge of the petal base and twist the wire, securing it around the base of the petal. Press down on the wire with pliers to keep the petal from moving. Do the same for all the petals.

Assemble a flower from the petals: first the smallest petals, then the larger ones. Bend the wire slightly at the base of the petals. To prevent the petals from moving when assembling the flower, you can periodically wrap the wire around the assembled petal wires. When the flower is fully assembled, wrap wire around the base of the flower several times.

Bend the ends of the petal wires to hide the wire at the base of the flower. You can form a loop using petal wires if you want to sew this flower onto something. Or you can attach this flower to something using petal wires.
Cut off the excess ends of the petal wires and secure them with wire (wrap the wire around th ends of the petal wires). The plastic flower is ready.
