This was a cute and different table runner to make. Reminded me a little bit of paper folding or origami.
Total Time: 2 hours
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- 2 coordinating large pieces of fabric
- thread
- circle template
- pins
- pencil
- scissors
- sewing machine
- iron
Steps:
- Use a circle template of the desired diameter (depending on the size you would like your final circle to be, choose a circle that is half of the diameter of the finished size.) The circle I chose is an 8 inch diameter. Pin the pattern to the fabric and cut out seven circles from each of the two fabrics.
- Pin right sides together. Sew a 1/4 inch seam all the way around the circle leaving a 1 inch opening for turning. Turn right side out. Slip stitch the opening closed. Press the seven circles. Fold each circle in half and mark the halfway point at the top and bottom of each circle.
- Using the paper pattern, fold in half and cut the circle into two pieces. You will be using only one of the halves. From the straight edge, measure 2 3/4 inches and mark with a pencil. Using a ruler, draw from this mark to the bottom of the straight edge of your half circle. Fold. Lay the folded paper on the printed fabric and draw a seam line along the side. Stitch. Repeat this step all the way around, joining the circles at the end. Press open.
- Using a glass, draw a circle onto a piece of yellow fabric for the center of the flower. Cut. Stitch around the circle 1/4 inch from the edge. Use pinking shears to cut along edge. Sew circle to the center of the "flower."
