I am a single mother with a 6 year old boy. His father passed away 2 years ago and I need a laptop to further my education. I have not been able to find a source. Any advice?

I'm a teacher and my school gives out laptops to students in need. Have you asked the school?
I would also contact interconnection.org and Freecycle
You could always rent to own a computer, I have done that before, then if it breaks or has problems you can trade it for another one until it is paid off.
IF you have a lot of time to waste (doubtful) you can go after those internet affiliate "free if you fulfill these offers" type of sites - I've messed with those before and received a couple hundred dollars - they also will give away free computers, ipads, etc. Usually these offers require you sign up to a paid subcription of some sort, but often enough all they want is an email address/cellphone to spam.
also inboxdollars.com does stuff like that
a better idea are what is said above. Also, this guy provides good advise: recycles.org/
i would also, once again if you have time, put a BARTER ad on craigslist, bartering some service (home cleaning is an ovious one) for a laptop. Of course, a need exists to be careful of such exchanges
best of luck!
I bought my last one with money earned on here, swagbucks and mypoints. It took me almost a year to save up for it, but it can be done.
Post your need on Facebook, try a pawn shop, post on Craigslist and contact local colleges to see if they can help.
No one will just hand you a free computer because you say you are in need. You must qualify and fill out the proper paper work so be prepared to spend some time filling out forms and inquiries.
You state that your son's father died 2 years ago hopefully you are receiving benefits from Social Security for care and living expenses to help you and you son. It is possible you are receiving other state/government benefits and all of this may help you qualify for even more benefits - such as a computer.
Here are links to very legitimate sites that may help you with a computer as well as other benefits you may be entitled to:
