I save all plastic merchandise bags. I use the bags for liners in small wastebaskets. Usually, small size waste containers are found in bathrooms, bedrooms, recreational vehicles and near cat litter boxes. I use the bags for returning empty bottles and cans. It saves buying rolls of new plastic bags and work very well. The different colors you may get from the store can match your room's decor.

I also line my waste basked with a plastic shopping bag. It makes it so much easier to dispose of and throw away the cats' debris from the litter box.
We line our waste baskets with small bags too. :)
You have my vote. I love plastic grocery bags.
I check them for holes and the ones that are good, I save. The other ones and any extra that I have, go back to the grocery store for recycling. I haven't purchased trash bags in years.
I'm going to share one little tip here that I learned to do. I tie a knot in the handles to make the top of the bag fit snugly.
After placing the bag in the waste basket, I fold it over and tuck the knots under and it makes a neat liner.
